Hey guys. First off, No im not doing a HID retrofit. At this point i do not have the funds to buy the projectors. Yes I understand now is the perfect time because i have the lights opened but I am not doing that just yet.

I am going with a different approach though. I am Blacking out the housing and doing alot of LED work. I am going to post up some mock up pictures but i want to keep alot of it a surprise so ill be posting updates randomly but when i am all done i'll post up more pics of the process so if youd like to see how it was all done you can.

To DO
Order Lights-Done
Black Out Housing
Re-clear light lenses
Run Wires
Build backing plate for DRL LED strip-Done

Now for the pics!
Split them open with a head gun

Now some mock ups.

Thats the only pics i have now. I still have to order the LEDs and finish removing the chrome from the outer piece and then black it out.

Well, I figure time to update!

Nice, I like the result, it should like great when installed!

Thanks bud!

Only dilema I have is securing the LED strips. Do you think the 3m double sided foam tape will hold up? It can get pretty cold at night during the winter here and the last thing id want to happen is sagging strips

I really like your LED strip. Each diodes are big & far from each other, and they create more OEM look to it. GL w/ the final work!

Saw this on Instagram this morning, it looks good. I like the led strip and it will look nice even without projectors.

Exactly what I was trying to say haha! They look sweet.

I would recommend both the tape just in case, as well as clear silicone. That should do the trick rain or shine, and the tape would just be extra.. Just make sure you can't see any of the tape through the lens, make it look as clean as you can whether looking at it with the LEDs on, or off.

I know you used a heat gun to open these.. I would recommend an oven at its lowest setting, like 115 or 120 degrees should be enough to melt the sealant.

so your saying, glue the LED strips to the backing plate with clear silicone? I know the main LED DRL strip will have the foam tape back because its coming from iJDM and they state it has it.

I wanna make them super clean to the point that people will stop and question if they came factory! I appreciate everyones help so far!

Yeah, i've been lurking around for a set of strips like this, and most of them are too thin, until I saw James's (JV6), but this one is perfect imo.

Let's hope he will get this thing right with you & other members' guidance. ;-)

Thats what i was worried about! i didnt want thin, or to thick or ones that would look cheap. the turn signal strip is on the thinish side but thats fine. I ordered all my lights so hopefully next week I will have them!
