Header Gains?

Hi. I know that it is really hard to squeeze any more power out of these engines than it has stock. And I've read that intake upgrades do really little except make noise and look good. But, would the right combination of Headers and exhaust and maybe intake make any noticeable difference? Because I'm not to hot on the idea of spending $1000+ in the future and not seeing any noticeable gains.

Thanks

....honestly...no, not really. Not unless you do some headwork or tuning with it.

So, you think I should even bother with those kinds of products then? Because I really don't want to dive into the world of hardcore engine mods on account of I want to keep the drive ability of the car for a very long time.

Thanks.

If you want a good sounding exhaust then headers are a good option. But just don't expect a lot of performance. You might get a little better throttle response with a full exhaust system from the header back but that's about it.

Thanks but that's just the problem. I could really care less about throttle response because, in my opinion, unless you are racing on a track, throttle response is equal to a butt dyno reading! But, maybe I am wrong. :/

Look into a hybrid intake. IMO, it is the best setup comparing stock, stock with air filter, sri, cai. My set up utilizes an aftermarket sri piping wrapped with DEI heat reflective tape, paired with an oem stock airbox, along with a K&N air filter. I also cut about a 2 inch wide square on the bottom of the airbox to make it sound louder.

Have you discovered any noticeable gains with that set up? Because I know Comptech sold an ice box that kinda looked similar to that.

Thanks.

I have an aem sri, Megan header, magnaflow hi-flo cat, 2.5" piping to a vibrant muffler.

It sounds great. But as far as performance gains... No. Maybe throttle response. So don't expect anything with only headers :lawl:

Not even a couple of horsepower?
