Sakura, Hope I wasn't one of the ones asking to be "spoon-fed". :hide:

Anyway, completely appreciate where you're coming form about them. I guess those are the things that can be expected when someone has a fairly rare mod that's been done.

Personally, if I had the $1300-$1400 to pick up the whole front end conversion, I wouldn't worry about how to install the fogs, because the front bumper already has them.

I guess picking up the fogs and figuring it our on your own is about what most of us can afford to do. Appreciate you putting up pics that give us some idea as to how certain mods look, even at the risk of exposing some of the imperfections.

yo sakura, just curious, but when u say ur foglights are illegal in hawaii, is it a state law that doesnt allow aftermarket fogs?

We dont have smog testing here in HI, but we have Recon. Short for Vehicle Reconstruction Permit, which is by state law requires all modified cars in the island of OAHU to passed under. They dont have Recon in Kona, Maui, Big island... etc. only in Oahu, where Honolulu is (the capital of the state and i live in). Cars are allowed to have foglights whether stock or aftermarket, but have to be within the rules. This is where SAE or DOT comes from.

This is a quote from another website:

SAE/DOT

DOT (Department of Transportation) is the Federal agency that delegates NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) to oversee the implementation and enforcement of vehicle safety standards.

SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) is the organization that creates the specifications of component parts manufactured for motor vehicles, such as material composition, measurements, tolerances, performance characteristics, etc.

DOT/SAE certification is a self-assurance process administered by manufacturers themselves. In order to comply with DOT and put the DOT mark on its parts, the participating manufacturers must be registered with DOT and submit test results signifying compliance on every part.

FMVSS 108

FMVSS 108 stands for Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards section #108. This sections details all the photometric and physical requirements of all exterior automobile lamps in all 50 states. It details all aspects such as color, light intensity, stress tolerances, heat tolerances, etc for all vehicle exterior lighting equipment. It is the definitive standards that all automotive lamps, OEM or aftermarket, need to adhere to when they are sold in the United States.

QS9000
QS 9000 certified, meaning the company meets supplier quality standards for North American automotive and heavy duty truck manufacturers.

ISO 9001
ISO 9001 certified, meaning they conform to exacting engineering and documentation practices and procedures

My JDM foglamps are illegal because it doesnt have any "SAE" or "DOT" stamping on them. "But how about the ebay aftermarket headlights, and foglights?" You may know that most aftermarket headlights for sale in ebay are made in china(and other countries), and its easy for them (manufacturers) to stamp a random number with SAE/DOT on them. Because i bet you those manufacturers dont have any testing to overcome just like any car Manufacturer has to pass in able to sell they vehicles in the U.S. Alot more of this would be an example of safety. WE know that Real JDM cars are Right Hand Drive, and the way of traffic is opposite from us here in America. All JDM headlights have their glare or rays pointed more towards the car's left side (viewed from front of car). If that very same JDM car would be here and drives on the road here in US now where will that glare/rays would be aiming now by default? Yes, towards the oncoming traffice on the left lane. Common solution: GO EURO! But the EUDM ones still dont have SAE or DOT stamps on them. At least they dont blind incoming opposite traffic.

Some friends that i know replaced, or want to replace thier JDM lamps to the European/EUDM ones. Because of the fact that they have their trrafic flow set-up like ours and the cars are also Left hand drives. JDM and EUDM have smilarities in looks on certain types of headlights ands foglightss. For example let's talk about the Acura TSXs OEM headlights (google is your friend). Japan-spec OEM Honda Accord Euro-R headlights looks exactly the same as the Europen-spec OEM HOnda Accord Euro-R ones.

Okay, i dont mind typing alot as long as it is for educational purposes.

Nah no Spoon Sports action man!

Yep, we always want something we dont have. But asking is a part of researching. But asking alot of times repeatedly is "erking!". :hide:

Yah go for it if you have the money! But alot of bodywork is required, costing you even more money. Thanks man, here's an example "if you are going to be on TV dont you want to hide your big acne?" And chics loves acne.... NOT!

Glad to help you. Now do the jdm fog mod, do it!!!! ::just kidding::

Honestly, I understand both sides of the fence. If someone can't or just won't share info about something, what ever happened to shooting the shyte in the garage/driveway with a few friends and just saying, "let's figure this one out guys"?
