I keep getting shocked every time I get out of my car now and I don't know what the problem is. I'm assuming it's got to do with the grounding, but since I'm still on the beginners level with cars, I wanted a second opinion.

Any advice? The amount of discharged electricity is so much it's starting to hurt. Thanks!

btw: searched the forums for any similar problems but got a bunch of results for suspensions lol :dunce:

if you think there's bad grounding get a voltmeter and test your grounds.

are you getting shocked everywhere on the car or just at the doors? how bad is the shock, it could just be an electric discharge from scuffing your feet while you walk or something, something about winter tends to make the shocks more common.

I would think you are getting shocked due to the dryer air form the cold weather. dry air causes more static electricity especialy when your clothes rub on you seats getting in and out of the vehicle causing you to get shocked.

but hey thats just a guess, I could be wrong.

Well I live in SoCal. Not too dry here. But this shock thing has been going on ever since I had the car. It's more intense than when I first got it in August 2008.

I'm getting the shocks only from the drivers door. I can't tell if it's coming from anywhere else in the car because it only happens when I get out after the car has been running.

The doors at my job shock me all the time. I've gotten in the habit of touching a key to the door handle so it discharges through the key rather than my hand.

So I guess it's not so rare. I have cloth seats so that might make a difference but I never imagined it would actually hurt a lot. Anyone else get shocked but have leather seats?
