subs cutting out

hey guys i need some help i just had subs hooked up in my accord i have 2 infinity pro 10 inch subs with a refrence amp and a poineer P4000dvd and anytime im turn my volume over 15 the subs cut out it has a cap on it too so idk what the problem can be everything was profesionally instaled anyone got any ideas?

play it and see if your amps protection light goes on...thats if it does have a protection light. it should have one..

i got to work but i had to turn down all the settings on the amp to get it work idk wtf the problem is it sucks because i should have so much more power going into that system it knocks hard now but it should be alot louder

and the protection light doesnt come on the power light is still on

how did u set ur gains?

everything was at half power bc i just took it out of my other car the guy used a 10 gauge wire do u think that i am not getting enough power from the battery?
im not good with my info on the wiring sorry

the gain knob is not a volume setting...so turn it to like 1/4 of the way "up" to start...

what do the fuses total on the amp and whats the RMS rating? 10ga is too small for anything over like 200 watts :ugh:

yeah i had da feeling that the 10ga was way to small i am going to the guy that instaled it and tell him that he needs to change it its strange bc he needs put a bigge guage in

Most likely what your gains are set at, subs cutting out/clipping are going to damage the suspension quickly and you'll find yourself replacing subs sooner rather than later.

Gain should never be turned past noon (0.5), and like Ry Ry said, a quart of the way is a decent place to start.
