I've been searching and asking and I seem to be getting different answers and advice... i'd like some more input with people with the same car who might have some experience...

The past couple months i've been looking to get new exhaust.. headers, piping, mufflers.. pretty much... my question pretty much is what seperates something like you find online for $600 compared to something on ebay for $200

Alot of people say it makes no difference and you're just paying for the name brand which doesnt matter to me.. i mean i dont want to have mufflers that sound like tin cans... but does it matter performance wise?

thanks

Re: Basic exhaust question..

Some things on ebay are okay IF they are name brands. Even name brands are NOT up to par with OEM honda as far as reliability. So, that should give you an idea of what no name brands do to your car. They are garbage, if you want something for performance, pay the extra money and suffer less quality loss over OEM.

This is pertaining to exhaust only. There are FEW parts that are better than oem not mentioned in here.

Re: Basic exhaust question..

if you are comparing name brand exhaust vs ebay knock-offs, the main difference will be the sound. then there's material issue, then there's how the pipings are bent, then finally there's a warranty issue.

after-market name brand exhaust is like "proven" quality; manderal bent piping, quality resonators and mufflers which will give you "nice" tone everyone is talking about.

ebay knock-offs are literaly knock offs, usually crush bent piping, resonators with almost zero to none glasspack, not too good looking muffler. not all, but you get the idea.

if peace of mind, reliability, worry-free is your best interest, just get name brand. of course you'll have to pay bit more but you get stress-free life for that money anyways.

if you are ready to research, go through process of trial-error type of modification (not so much when you research enough), why not go custom? you save bucks this way. just make sure to pick quality parts for yourself. name brand mufflers of your choice, resonators if you want to get rid of high pitched bumble bee in a can sound, manderal bent piping, reputable shop, etc, etc.

just to share what i did, ive had custom exhaust with my old 6thgen. ive gone through many trial and error sort of modding. in the end, i spent as much money as name brand exhaust simply because i was too lazy to research and i bought this and that and tried one by one.

GL in everything, hopefully you can make up your mind :)

Re: Basic exhaust question..

jaz, u should get a vibrant muffler and custom piping, its cheaper and way better quality. OBX doesnt pack their mufflers well, the fiber glass inside the muffler burns out quick and gets louder over time....
