hello everyone, i recently bought NEX SS coilovers off of LXCORD and tried numerous times to adjust the height. but when i adjust what i believe is the right thing, nothing seems to happen. the first time i did it it actually seemed like the rear got a little higher, and im 99.9% sure that i am going the right way. also it is very hard to turn the "adjuster" even when using wd-40 and the spanner wrench with a wooden mallet. any kind of support would be highly appreciated.

this is a pick of the coilovers that i got b4 they were put on, if someone could point out on them what i need to adjust once again i would really appreciate it. thanks again :haysm9:

The silver ring(s) at the bottom of the springs are what you should be turning. I assume you're doing that right?

How old/new are the springs, did you check to see if anything was blown/leaking?

If you have a local mechanic, I would suggest letting them have a look if you aren't too familiar with adjusting the height, but it shouldn't be hard to sort it out.

Depending on the coil setup you may very well be adjusting the spring load and not the height...

someone else can give you more info on that, idk much about NEX coils.

Where are you spinning from?

yes i am spinning the ring(s) under the springs, but once again when i do it i feel like i am not getting anywhere and it is very difficult. and i supose i could take them to a mechanic but do you think they are going to need to take them off of my car b/c i am not trying to deal with all that.

yeah... I think you may be spinning the wrong thing...

if these are anything like the f2's you should be spinning the silver cylinder at the BOTTOM of the shock, not the rings below the springs. Those adjust the spring load, and probably shouldn't have been messed with...

Check this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLRdo8atXbM

He does mention that older coilovers get adjusted from the top, so your best bet is probably to check with the guy you get them from. Just looking at them though, it looks like you need to be spinning from the bottom.

While they're on the car, you have to remove the single bolts that hold them onto the suspension forks (i believe thats the right term, someone correct me if im wrong)

Once the bolts are out, you should be able to turn the front ones with nothing more than a little elbow grease, assuming you loosened the ring directly above the cylinder.

For the back, you'll have to push the suspension down a little bit so that you can free the bottom of the shock. (You'll notice that you won't be able to turn it otherwise). Once you adjust the height as you need it, you'll have to push the suspension back into place so that you can get the bolt back in there. I found this is easiest to do if you've got a spare jack you can stick under there to raise the suspension up while you position the shock back into place. It's pretty tedious, but the easiest way to do it when you're by yourself.

Let me know if you need me to explain that better, I guess it's kinda hard without pictures. If you installed them yourself you'll probably know what I'm talking about.

As for the spring load (the rings below the springs), try to get them back to how they were when you first got the coils. Normally you wouldn't need to touch that at all, and I'm not sure if you could actually damage the coils by driving with the springs not loaded properly. I don't know much beyond what I've done myself.

If you're still confused and no one else can help you, I plan on lowering my rear a little more sometime during the week, so I could take some pics. It's pretty easy once you do it a few times.

no prob. It'll probably make more sense once you get the wheels off again and see what I'm talkin about. I'm hopin to do mine on tuesday so let me know before then if you need pics.

This thread talks a little about preload... http://www.6thgenaccord.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20668&highlight=spring+preload

Not sure what the harm is but if you didn't move it that much to begin with it'll probably be fine.
