The car may or may not be a write-off, but because it's a corner, it would be hard to get it back like new again.

Glad your friends ok. But i'd rather the guy have hit a phone pole. I have no sympathy for drunk drivers. A kid at my school rolled a minivan drunk and had to crap in a bag for 2 months not a single bit of sympathy for him.
