be like it is
werd :lawl:

i'm a photography noob.. dun need anything fancy... i want a pentax, but those are still kinda pricey... maybe a D40 or canon XSI?
what pentax is pricey?

everything is more expensive when you compare it to a 5+ year old d40/350d...
I have been doing alot of reading/research on www.kenrockwell.com and would recommend you take some time to research on there as well.
kenny is good for entertainment. as for actual content, look elsewhere...
actually I think 60hz lcdtv's look the best. with a decent response rate (5-6ms) there's not going to be any motion blur / ghosting

the 120/240hz tv's, a lot of them get image stutter from the processor which I think looks a lot worse than the motion blur from the older generation 8ms+ response 60hz lcd's. the 120/240 tv's are just a big sales gimmick and completely unnecessary once the pixel rate itself is fast enough to keep up. they sell it for home theater because people will spend money on it but all your desktop monitors are running at 60-75hz and look great assuming their response rate is quick enough

imo a good lcdtv is the best way to go right now (for an actual tv), until OLEDs become affordable. plasmas are so reflective, the glare would drive me nuts. and LED tv's are just a stepping stone to lasers or oleds anyways
from what i've read on monitors, a fast response time gives a worse rendering. like...for photoshop work, it's best to find slower monitors in the 8-16ms range. gaming is the opposite, where 2ms is ideal.

i think 60hz is too slow...like the stories of people getting headaches from looking at screens all day and such. playing mw2 on a 60hz 60" DLP screen left me with the refresh "blinkies" for a few minutes afterwards.

well a lot of that is personal preference. i've kinda built up an immunity to the 60hz refresh rate but sometimes it really gets to me...

plasmas have a fast refresh rate (like 600hz+ or something like that)...and it'll be nice to an evenly lit, contrasty panel for an h-t set up. i havent seen many projectors i've been "blown away" by...
kind of off-topic, but that was a gripe I had about Public Enemies too. They shot it in digital HD instead of film and it looked weird, everything was way too clear. there wasn't the same kind of depth to shots imo.
that debate is still raging on photo forums. film just has a depth and rendering and amount of detail that digital can't reach yet. put a digital B&W pic or print next to a film one...its quite easy to tell them apart.

you'll fit in perfectly at walmart or kmart where someone gets maimed or killed over a $300 computer every year :lawl:
