Removing shock/spring assembly how hard?

So I'm looking to sell my car, and I want to remove the drop springs/KYB shocks and put my stock stuff back on... no spring swapping, just putting the stock shocks/springs as a whole back on. How hard is it to do this? I had the shop put the stuff on b.c. I also had a swaybar put on.

Is this a DIY job where I can just jack up one corner of the car at a time and do it? Or should I just pay the shop again to take it all off? It'd be nice to sell my stuff and make money but if its not a weekend warrior job then I'll just pay the pro's to do it.

I imagine it might be a bit harder than putting the aftermarket stuff in, just because the stock stuff is physically larger. But I don't think it would be impossible to do with a buddy on a Saturday. I say go for it.

i installed my coilovers last week myself and it was the first time i like ever did it. it took a while but if you just follow the filtsai.com guide its pretty simple. it should be easier to remove the aftermarket stuff because they are generally smaller than the stock stuff.

you might need a spring compressor? idk good luck though!:duckhunt:

I had trouble taking the stock off. Here's a tip, turn your steering wheel left or right depending on what front sides your taking off. That will give you some room to pull the shocks out as well installing. Just what I learn by DIY.

is your stock assembly still in one piece with the top hats on, or did they use those top hats for the aftermarket parts?

I swapped my stechs out for my ksports in about an hour and a half with hand tools, but I've done it once or twice before so I knew what I was doing.

Getting things in and out are usually the hard parts. Aftermarket springs will allow you to easily remove the assembly. Try to have both wheels off the ground and leave the tire on the wheel that is NOT being removed as the sway bar linkage will help pull the suspension down.

"sometimes" depending on who removed your OEM suspension, the bolts on the top hat are not straight (due to possible hammering to get the assembly loose). In these cases it's easier with 2 people as one person can wiggle the assembly from below and the other can hand tighten the nuts on.

If you are putting the OEM assembly with OEM springs back on, you'll need spring compressors. Some places lend tools out for free (Part Source in Canada) as long as you put a deposit down (full value) and they refund it when you bring the tools back.

Oy Vey I forget you had to take out the seat, multiple jacks, etc. Yeah I may just pay the shop to do it then sell the stuff to recoup my shop costs. Or try to sell the car with the lowering springs / shocks still installed and sell my stock stuff for cheap. OK, thanks for posting the link to the DIY and your advise.
