Changed oil

i dunno if it's me, but after 4k for mobil 1 or 3k for regular oil, i start smelling the oil more.. kinda like the oil is burning or something

Your running the G23 right? That might be why. Maybe it consumes oil at a different rate compared to the H22/H23 and the F23? But 4k sounds about right for synthetic for a customized motor such as the G23 .

I usually change my oil every 3k but I use dino. You have some pretty low mileage on your car. I'm assuming you don't drive it often? .

Haha I dirve it alot, Not real long distances though.. I bought the care at 56k so the previous owner didn't drive it a whole lot, obviously..I've had it since Aug 09.

Realize too, that all you know for sure is that you put 5K on that oil. Who knows how long it was in while the previous owner drove it. It would've made sense to change it last September, unless he told you he just did it and you trusted him.
