Hey guys. My brake lamp light(the one under the trunk light) has been on for a while now and I was wondering if a faulty brake light sensor would cause this? The bulbs work whenever I press my alarm, it comes on with the parking lights, and it comes on if the car is not on whenever I press the brake pedals. However, if I turn on my car and step on the pedals then the brake lamp light would come on in the dash and tell me it's not functioning. I took a look at both tail lights last night while I was putting in my new turn signals bulbs and noticed the left side has 3 plugs while the right has 2. I'm guessing it has to be the sensor and it turned out it was after I looked it up at this site(see below). Thx for your help guys.

Have you checked to make sure that the brake lights are not working? My car had the brake lamp indicator light on but my brake lights still worked.
Like you mentioned, everything worked with the alarm and the parking lights but the brake lamp indicator light would come on when I pressed on the brake pedal but the lights worked. I tried putting in new bulbs but that didn't work either.

I was able to fix the problem by replacing the socket connector base on the passenger side. For some reason it had a small crack on the connector base.

okay guys I figured out the problem. I swapped both bulb sockets and what do you know, now the right side does not work. Guess I'm going to head to the dealer tomorrow and buy the socket. :D

THey are 1157 bulbs right?
parts store will have them on hand, no sense to pay the dealer markup.
