Foam blowing out from vents?

Narrowed it down to the vents that are up against the windshield. I guess the defrost ones? Don't really remember what color the foam was, maybe dark brown/grey, but it definitely wasn't black. I'll try to snap a pic next piece that flys out

Maybe it's not exactly black but it sounds like the foam gasket for those vents. Otherwise it would be coming out everywhere. I say just let it blow itself out till it's all gone.

If it's dark brown and roughly 1/4" wide, it's just the liner foam applied to seal where the various ducts/vents butt up against one another. Just let it blow out, it won't hurt anything.

No one's considered the possibility of a rodent? They love chewing stuff like foam.... there may be other stuff in the A/C ducts but just isn't light enough to blow out the vents.


(I speak from experience... I turned on my vents one day to have acorn shells come flying at my face! LOL)

I'm pretty sure there would be a distinct odor coming from the vents if there was a little critter in there.

like ryan and matt said. plus, when mine did that, it was the flapper that controls the air flow to the different vents i.e, defrost vents, floor, center dash bezel. etc. just little pieces of old foam im sure sloughed off. shouldn't be anything to worry about.
