Brakes or Bearings?!

Alright guys...my car is squealing like a mofo and it is driving me crazy!

Are these my brakes going out or another issue?

One thing I noticed was that when I would try to turn my brakes when it was on jacks I had to put A LOT of effort into in...I dont think that is normal...and maybe that is why I get bad MPG???

Check underneath the pads there could be some type of debris between the pad and the rotor causing the squealing.

1/8 of an inch? Check your pads, the inside ones I think. They probably have metal pins on them and they are scraping on your rotors to tell you your pads need to be changed.

What about all the resistance when turning the wheel on jacks...is that normal?

def sounds like the squealer hittin the rotor and from the pic it looks like inside pad is considerable smaller than the outer, which would also explain the risitance on the wheel. i would replace the pads and the little metal shims the pads slide on

Sorry for the threadjack, but is it normal for ceramic pads (Wagner Thermoquiets) to squeak when driving after a cold start? Well, it only squeaks the first and second time I brake actually, and after that it's super quiet.

It's been like this for a long time but always just assumed it was normal for any kind of brake pads.

I guessed the pads as well and ordered some Akebono Street Performance pads from TireRack.com

They were one the pricey side of the spectrum but the last things I go cheap on are tires and brakes...I save in other areas...like the aesthetics of the car! ha!

I have the thermoquiets(2nd time putting them on) and usually there will be only a small squeal the first couple of times. I usually just makes those times be as i'm exciting my neighborhood side streets.

The inner pad always wears faster/more then the outer no matter what. Its the pad that faces the most major resistance from the caliper piston.

Where those the fronts or rears you were turning?
If the fronts, did you have both front wheels in the air cause one wheel shouldn't be able to turn freely(except maybe a couple mm) in park if the other is locked(on the ground).

Yes both fronts were in the air with the car in park and the hand brake engaged.

I assumed maybe becuase it is a front wheel drive car there should be more resistance than my old rear wheel drive BMW. I figured that there were more components turns and moving in the fWD car (tranny and such) so the resistance could have been due to that...but what conserned me that it could be more was the fact that I had horrible MPG for it being a honda I4
