Re: "Function & Form" Coilover 6GA SPECIALS

Looks about right, keep in mind though that these coilovers already sit your car about 2" lower compared to stock struts at their highest level. Springs lengths vary front and back - cant remember exact length. Doesn't really matter - what are you trying to achieve anyways?

Just trying to help out a close friend with properly setting their pre-load after the previous installers just preloaded everything differently as they pleased and left the height be out of whack in all 4 corners. I was hoping on knowing the free spring(s) lengths for front/rear and that way i could just measure the springs and loosen the lower two perches accordingly if necessary without having to fully loosen and then re-tighten them while sitting on the ground lol.

I see... if it were mine, I would remove them entirely - measure preload on spring and adjust starting height equally front and rear before tooling with them installed. Good luck!

How do you measure the preload on a spring? Just measure the length?
I didn't adjust the preload on my coils before i installed them and i feel the ride is... off?
I wanna take them out and pre load them when i have time,.

You measure the spring when it is uncompressed at all, free length(you can do so by lowering the spring rings down until the free is able to move up/down freely).
You then pre-load it 5mm from that length. So if the free length is 20cm, you preload it until the spring becomes 19.5cm. You then lock the two rings against each other so they won't move again.

^ Yes. Thank you.

And then install coilovers.

NOTE: Pre-load is measured and set off the car, not installed.
