Almost done with the body work, will update new pics as they are worthy in previous post 'After' prompt.
Obtained a few 5thgenaccord V6 goodies..
OEM Strut Tower Bar
This will take some modification to make fit. I am planning on shaving all the brackets except the middle one where I will attach it to firewall. The side mounting points will have to be custom measured and made because the I4 versions never came with the bar or mounting points due to chassis and engine differences.
V6 EX-L Map Light Unit
The I4's didn't come with the map light unit apparently, and even though mine has all the bells, whistles, leather, etc, somehow it still didn't have this cool part and when I saw a chance to retrofit it I jumped on the opportunity! Shiny brushed aluminum buttons too! I'd like to get matching climate control knobs sometime too.
The entire fenderwells and other vulnerable undercarriage components are now sealed with about 5 thick coats of Rust-O-Leum bed liner, and now primed both rear quarter panels.
More progress here:
Also went to the junk yard today and bough a few goodies for it for $30 out the door!
Already refurbished them and painted the brackets, but going to install them after everything is cleaned in the engine bay.
Decided not to go with the black 1-piece bar, as it does not correspond to any OEM mounting points on the I4 chassis - those mounting points only exist on the V6 5thgen models which I got the bar from. If anyone wants it let me know it's for sale:
Thanks a lot Matt! Check the earlier pages, the exterior and mainly the rust under fenders was the issue. I'll have post some more pics when I get to organizing them, been extremely busy lately.
Waiting to get off work so that I can go and continue with more coats of primer! I think I'm going to start cleaning the engine bay too so that I can install the intake and strut bar.
The only other things I need to do is get a replacement SRS module, clean the fawk out of it, and get it registered and inspected.
As far as performance mods, now it already has everything I planned for it except coils.. Now that I got the junkyard goods haha. This is THE budget project. Any car can be a budget project with the right amount of resourcefulness and patience..
