idles too low with A/C ON > how do i raise idle?

it takes a little longer than most cars it seems like but it seems to blow cold. not ice cold like my older 97 nissan but cold enough.

Should blow just as cold as any car. I would get the freon level checked and fill that up first. One of the cheaper first steps you could look too.

Weirdly my accords A/C has never blown as cold as my old BMW 318/325 or Chevrolet Cavalier lol.

With that said, buy an A/C gauge and check its pressure on the lowside port.

i agree, if ur low on freon and u run ur compressor it could burn it up, the freon is what carries the oil through the A/C system so being low on freon will mean ur oil isnt getting to all the a/c components, with that said a dry compressor will have more resistance and cause more load on the engine (causing it to struggle)

yea they said it was low so they had to refill the freon? its super cold now but it didnt seem to completely fix the idle. still drops a bit. my other cars idle higher when the AC is on.

I know freon is a term most people still use commonly, but I think you all mean R134 refrigerant. Freon was R12.

Re: the idle, your compressor could be worn. My Compressor is OE (137k miles) from my old f23 motor & installed on my new h22 motor it idles around 700. You can do an idle adjustment if it really bothers you, but if its not struggling to run, why not just leave it alone?

sidenote: why even in the winter does the compressor come on when you press the defrost buttons, (manual unit) I've grown up thinking its bad for the comp to run when its already cold, So I just shut the switch off, Seems, like an uneeded step, but I just wondered why Honda thought even when it all the way on heat, we should turn on the A/C pump

I think its to properly defrost. When the a/c is mixed with the heat in winter time. It defrosts way faster. Try it out one day, when you window is really frosted or misty, try just heat then try to defrost with the a/c on as well and see. I notice its way faster the way its setup to work.

The Ac removes moisture. This is normal. But I also usually turn off the AC when defrost on. I'm actually glad this is an option on our cars.
