There is alot to learn, just take your time so you make the right decision the first time around.

Please take it to PM's guys, trying to get sort of urgent feedback for my question and I need to let the vendor know the rates I want asap today. Please and thank you. :)

Re-posting:

...asked for 575/450. Vendor says closest to that Eibach can get is 550/430, which is roughly 9.8k/7.7k. I asked them to find out what the next firmest rates would be, I'd like to know what the rates jump up to after 550/430. Hopefully they can get me that info, then it will be a matter of choosing between the two.

Ok so the next highest rates available are 600/450, which is about 10.7/8. Definitely going with 450 for the rear…just trying to decide whether to do 550 or 600 for the front.

550 is 9.8, originally I wanted 560 which is 10 or 575 which is 10.3, (but neither 560 or 575 is available). 550 is closer to 10k, but 600 may be the safe thing to do. Is a 9.8k spring the same length as a 10.7k spring? I just need to make sure I can get to 23.5" ground to fender...

Just called Ground Control. The guy there told me that, first of all, all GC springs come in 8” length unless you request longer or shorter (these are the springs they advertise as lowering your car 3”). And then he said that a 500 lb/in spring would be the same length as a 600 lb/in spring. Only difference is firmness. In fact the length change is non-existent or negligible between a 400, 500, 600, 700, etc lb/in spring. So you'll only get a shorter/longer spring if you request it.

Now just trying to decide between 550 and 600.

Ok, good to know.

I think you should go with your stiffest option up front(10.7), rather than go less than that and have issue with it not being stiff enough up front.

I don't think you'll notice that much of a difference between 9.8 and 10.7, so, go with the rate that is a little more than what you were looking for rather than less.

Not to mention, a S/C setup will be some added weight on the front end, so you may appreciate that you went with the stiffer springs.

Thanks, I feel like I'm leaning that way. Good points there.

My wife is really going to hate riding in my car now. :lawl:

EDIT: Chose 600/450. My “logic” was that I was going from 171 to 450 in the rear which is a difference of 279 lb/in. So I wanted roughly the same difference to take place up front because the car does feel very balanced with Sportlines now. Going from 314 to 550 is a diff of 236 lb/in, and going from 314 to 600 is a diff of 286 lb/in. So 279 and 286 are more comparable. Also, the difference between front (314) and rear (171) was 143 lb/in. And the difference between 600 and 450 is 150 lb/in. So keeping the ratios as they were also makes me feel better about it. And I know at least I'll be covered and the suspension will be stiff enough to lower on with the new wheels.

Glad that's over. :lawl:

Chris, will the koni's be able to handle the firmer spring rates? I've heard that you may need to get the shocks "re-valved" when getting firmer springs...

Where did you confirm that the sportlines are 171/314? Is that an average or something since they're progressive?
