    Try shooting through a ski mask. That's what it's like trying to shoot with a paintball mask on. Your eye is about 1/2-1" further from the viewfinder so you get about 50% or less coverage, haha.

    Yeah, that's what I've been hearing. There's a thread about it on POTN. I talked to someone personally who had a broken 20D and they traded him up to a 30D back when that was current.

    No, I think it's only for their most current model, so that may switch to the 7D eventually. I think they do the same program for the G series point and shoots, but for less money. The thing with the trade in deal is that the camera you trade in doesn't even have to work!

    That's the non-IS version that is no longer made. Out of production normally means Canon won't even touch it. You can trade in any DSLR + $650 or so and get a 50D refurb from Canon.

    The nifty fifty (Canon version at least) has a very recessed front element. Especially with the hood you may find that you don't need it. It is my only lens that I do not use a UV filter on.

    Yeah, that's a shot where a tripod and 5 or 6 bracketed exposures merged into an HDR would actually be useful and not a gimmick. The way you processed it looks great though!

    IS and USM are two completely different things. Image Stabilization allows you to take clear pictures at much slower shutter speeds. Ultra Sonic Motor is a focusing method (the fastest made by Canon). I would go for the 18-55 IS as a first lens over the 50 1.8

    Seems like an amazing body for a sports shooter. For action I would think that just about anyone would rather have a 7D and a 50D for the basically the same price as a 5DII :D EDIT: That being said, I'm not going to run out and buy it...

    Shoot wide open!!! :D jk, but I'm almost always wide open on all my lenses.

    I keep hoods on all my lenses at all times. I also keep UV filters on all my lenses at all times, but that one is highly debated.

    Re: Nifty Fifty!!! (updated pics!!!) That's the Canon 2x Extender. Extension tubes change the minimum focus distance. Extenders/Teleconverters increase the effective focal length by 1.4x or 2x.
