Taking out the upper dash pad?

This is awesome. Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. I'll definitely be using the ziplocks, and taking pictures along the way for reference. Maybe I can make a guide of sorts and post it here for anyone looking to do this in the future since I'll be taking all the pictures anyway.

    Black steering wheel trim?

I'm gonna get flack for saying this, but I literally just painted my steering wheel and column cover and it looks great. It's held up completely fine over about 5 months (note: I have a cover around the outside). Use the right prep/paint and it'll last, and only cost you ~$30, plus you'll have...

Taking out the upper dash pad?

Good to know. I think my approach will be to wait for a weekend when I have absolutely nothing going on and then just start taking things apart piece by piece until it's obvious how it all fits together.

If I do end up springing for it I'll post pics.

    Hydrographics for interior trim

Hmm, have you seen stuff like mydipkit? Pretty much just get a tub of water, warm it to 30C or so, spray the activator, dip, clear coat. I'll definitely check out the interior trim for sale though. Zero risk > cheap. That would have to be the whole unit, including the electronics, correct? Are...

Taking out the upper dash pad?

Nah, looked on youtube for ages. I'll check out those threads. Thanks!

Taking out the upper dash pad?

I'm trying to replace the dash pad on my '99 Sedan LX 4-cyl, but having a bit of trouble figuring out where it's held down. I'm talking about the large part of the dash exposed to the light of the windshield (#5 in this diagram...

    Hydrographics for interior trim

Has anyone here used a hydrographics kit for interior trim? Seems like a sweet thing if it's as good as the videos online. I was thinking of doing my interior trim in burlwood. Also, how does this compare to OEM wood trim, vinyl wrapped wood trim, and dash kits?

Expensive junk yard? Why are they asking so much for rims?

Awesome tip. I'll check it out!

Expensive junk yard? Why are they asking so much for rims?

Haha, that's where I found the junkyard. Found another place about 2 hours from me selling a full set for $200 straight up. Craigslist people have all been flaky and inconsistent. One guy kept switching between saying the rims were 8 inches wide with a 25 mm offset and 4x100 and 7 inches wide...

Expensive junk yard? Why are they asking so much for rims?

So I looked around car-part.com for some OEM wheels for my '99 accord sedan as a set for winter tires, and there were two junkyards within an hour of me that had a full set of rims. I called them up, and each said the price for a rim was $75 each plus the old wheel it's replacing. Now I may be...

    A few questions on rims

I see. I think I need to read up on this more. Still not entirely sure whether or not they'd fit, and you're bringing up a whole set of issues I never even considered. But essentially you're saying that if I switch to the alloys that come with the V6 I need to pretty much rehaul the brakes, but...

    A few questions on rims

I've been searching through the forums to find info on this, and it's cleared up a lot, but I'm still trying to figure out a few little details that will make or break a purchase. I'm trying to switch from steel wheels on a '99 sedan 4-cyl to rims. I found some 4x114.3's on Craigslist with a...

What'd you do to your accord today?

I'll get them soon. Probably within a week and I'll post them. Still gotta do the dashboard, the steering wheel, and those annoying pieces near the front where the hood popper is (anyone know if you can safely take those out?). The big holdup really is the dash. I gotta wait for the weekend...

    For you audiophile elitists

I'm still reluctant to believe that someone who isn't an audiophile would find it worth it to upgrade from "good" speakers to "great" speakers. Sure, anyone would benefit from a $400-500 upgrade from 15 year old worn out factory speakers to a sub, component speakers, and rear 6x9s that don't...

What'd you do to your accord today?

Going from tan/brown to tan/black. Started the prep/priming on a good number of the interior plastic pieces. My apartment is a mess and people look at me like I'm crazy when they see the inside of my car with all the exposed wires and such. The finished pieces look really good though...

You know you drive a 6th gen Accord when....

...you thought all tachometers were supposed to jump several thousand rpms at a time because this is the car you learned to drive in. ...you tell your grandmom about all the changes you're making to her old car and she doesn't even care enough to look at the pictures. ...your friends think...

My name's Eric. I'm thrilled to have found a site like this. I'm a 23 year old guy, and I drive a '99 Accord (4 cyl/2.3L) with 91,000 miles, inherited from my awesome grandmother at 50,000 miles when I was 17. Through high school and college I didn't care how my car looked or how it drove, now...
