What are my options for fixing a transmission.

I am having issues with my manual transmission again. Now, the cheapest solution I know is to get another one from the junkyard and swap it out over the weekend. I can find one for $400 easy, and if I am lucky I can get one for as low as $250. The thing is, I did this once before and it...

Will I get a check engine light if my engine has detonation?

So I am hearing something that could just be a rattle, or it could the detonation. THe suspicious noise is only under load at low RPM so it could just be vibrations. Also this is the first time I fueled the H22 with the low octane gas since I got the engine. I will fill up with premium next time.

Will I get a check engine light if my engine has detonation?

Okay, the knock sensor is there to detect detonation, but will it throw a code? My car has an OBDI H22 engine with a chipped ecu. Would the OBDI ecu detect detonation and throw a code, or do I need to be running OBDII?

    Help. Can't engage reverse gear.

I fixed it, but I am not sure exactly how I did it. I took apart the shift linkage. (I't pretty easy, 4 bolts and the cover comes off along with the top lever.) But I did not see anything visually wrong with the mechanism. So I took off the part that chooses which gear shaft to move, and...

    Help. Can't engage reverse gear.

Yeah. I tried that. No playing with the clutch, revs and gears helps. I think I will need to take apat the shift linkage and check it out. Anyone know if good instructions for that exist?

    Help. Can't engage reverse gear.

I will check when I get home. Wouldn't it mess up the other gears too?

No grinding. So I guess locked out.

    Help. Can't engage reverse gear.

Hey everyone. So my transmission decided to act up on me. I drove to a movie theater yesterday, parked the car. When I came out to drive home, I could not engage reverse gear. I now have to push the car out of the parking space each time I park. This is a 5-speed manual transmission we are...

HELP! Cant get lower ball joint off to replace my axle!!

I had a few really stubborn ball joints and for those, only the fork tool worked. But I believe the consensus is that if you use that fork tool, you throw away the ball joint.

Yes. But it could stall too.

That's clever, but sounds scary as hell.

I guess I will say it again and suggest you check all the vacuum connections. You might be having a vacuum leak because the guys servicing the car forgot to plug some line back in, or knocked off a vacuum plug or something. This has happened to me before with the shop tuning my car leaving a...

    Friend seeks help, Civic stalling.

Throttle getting stiff? I don't get how that would happen. The pedal is just connected to a butterfly valve. There is no mechanism for it to get stiffer. I had a problem with idling when I connected my gas tank vent tube incorrectly. Basically after a fill-up the engine would get too much...

repairing a big-*** hole in my leather seat (pic)

Not really. I am just willing to drive 100 miles out if they have the part I want. Also car-part.com is amazing, makes searching for parts a lot easier.

repairing a big-*** hole in my leather seat (pic)

You could try the leather repair kit you get from a car store, but it is hard to make it look good for something that big. Seat covers are another option. Depending on how handy you are with a needle you can try and patch it. Or. Just go to a junkyard. You can pick up an RSX seat for...

    ★ Russianred's Turbo Build Thread! ★ *UPDATED 4/15* ★

Re: Russianred's Turbo Build Thread! *UPDATED 5/18/11* Wagner are not performance brakes. But the weird thing is that they claim to have a lifetime warranty. You are supposed to be able to bring your worn out pads to the store, along with a receipt and get new ones for free. Did anyone...

will h22a exhaust fit on a 98 accord coupe

Um. Use the prelude headers, and the Accord Exhaust. They won't quite match up, so you would have to take it to a muffler shop and have them cut and weld your pipes at one point. It's not that expensive, 100 bucks or so. Prelude cat back exhaust piping does not have the same bends as your...

    defrost problem!

YOu can run the defrost without AC but it won't do anything. The AC does two things: 1)Cool the air, 2)Remove moisture from the air. In order for the defrost to work you need dry air from the AC to absorb all the water condensed on the window. Without it, you are just blowing humid air only...

    Accord Coupe h22a swap - driver's axle

Don't the CV joints have a little bit of lateral motion built into them? Are you sure you just did not just compress the axle all the way in? The other issue, is it possible that your engine mounts are different and positioned the engine 4cm off, or at an angle? The stock and the H22...

    squeaky noise on the belts

WEll. That is exactly what happened to me. The new belt stretched over a month's time, and then I had to tighten it again. It's pretty easy in our cars. The alternator has a tensioner built in. In my experience bad bearings are usually a grinding noise not squeaking.

Re: Russianred's Turbo Build Thread! *UPDATED 5/18/11* I never went shopping for the fully adjustable ones. I principle this is all you would need. But make sure that they are for all 4 wheels and not just two, reading the description on those it seems like you would need two of those valves...

Re: Russianred's Turbo Build Thread! *UPDATED 3/23/11* Hey. I did my drum to disc conversion a while back and I still drive with the stock proportioning valve. I bought the 40/40 valve a while back, but it is a pain to remove the lines from my stock one. They are stuck solid and there is not...

    squeaky noise on the belts

Are you sure it's not just one of your accessory belts slipping? I bought cheap belts from Auto Zone before and they will stretch over time and start to squeek. And it becomes worse if the weather is wet. The alternator belt would get loud at idle I guess because the load on the belt goes...

Have not bought parts for my honda for so long, I forgot what all the good brands are

Re: Have not bought parts for my honda for so long, I forgot what all the good brands I ended up getting Gates. (Was cheaper on amazon than top of the line belts at an auto parts store.) I don't go to a shop for small stuff like this. But the belts I got from the auto parts store stretched...
