    The Chicago area has pretty solid emissions/smog testing, I always pass that with flying colors... I wonder how it compares to CA smog testing... how much of a pain was it to get it registered/titled in a new state? (I've never done an inter-state move before.)

    Bad alternator???

    Thanks for all the suggestions folks. I took it over to Autozone this afternoon and it was in fact dead. Bought a new one on the spot for $125 and stuck it in about 45 minutes. Started the car up, and it ran like a dream. -quad
