Intermittent complete loss of all electric power

Thanks. This is helpful. I'll take a look at all the connection points for corrosion/poor contact.

Intermittent complete loss of all electric power

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try that. Would a a bad connection to the battery affect the car once it's started as far as power is concerned? I would expect all electrical power come from the alternator at that point. Since this is so intermittent - the only way I know it's fixed is if it...

Intermittent complete loss of all electric power

Stats: 2002 F23A1 4cyl Accord 4dr EX 5spd, 191k, No CEL set. Recent maintenance (all OEM): plus, wires, rotor, distributor cap/seal, cleaned TB, cleaned IACV, routine oil changes, rebuit OEM injectors. Even prior to the ignition system tune-up, I noticed that on a couple of occasions that...

    Strange clutch behavior

I will do a fluid change. I haven't changed it at least for the past 50k that I have owned the car (3 years)... It's simple enough to do and overdue. If that fails - I was planning on replacing both cylinders. Thank you to both of you for your help. I appreciate it :)

    Strange clutch behavior

2002 Accord 4-dr EX-L 4-cyl (obviously 5spd since I have a clutch question). When the car has been sitting overnight, the clutch pedal is really hard to press and also feels springy/spongy all the way to the floor, rather than having the normal feel of firmness up until the midpoint an then...

    spongy clutch

Thanks. I'll prob just replace both... I have over 170k and they're both original. Has anyone had any luck with quality aftermarket parts for these? Any recommendations?

    spongy clutch

I hate to bump an old thread... but my 6th Gen just started doing this yesterday. The clutch is hard to press, spongy all the way down when started cold (sitting overnight, for example) and works "normally" after some driving. No fluid leaks, no fluid loss anywhere that I can see. I haven't...

new cluster or OEM replacment faces?

I have a spare cluster at home - but it's spare because I swapped out the cluster in my car since the gauges had glue on them from the previous owner's indiglo... functions perfectly... but if anyone wants it for parts - lmk... (PM for price)

new cluster or OEM replacment faces?

You can swap out just the gauges from another cluster... that way your mileage/etc. stay the same.

    Stock strut mount question

Thanks for the quick reply. I'd hate to do the install and then have to redo it :).

    Stock strut mount question

Quick question for you experts... I just got some stock springs/struts/mounts to swap onto my car - and I noticed on one side (front left) the strut mount bolts wiggle a bit - is this ok or should the bolts that secure from the underside into the engine bay body area be "unified" with the mount...

    spark plug wires help

I have a set of factory wires (used) that are fine - PM me if you are interested. Factory wires are 50-60 bucks and what I would recommend as well.

    Random engine shutdowns while driving

Yep - for me - I'm pretty sure it's a sticking IACV - because it never happens at speed or as far as I can recall, when I'm applying throttle. Always when I'm coasting, with clutch in, or at a light idling - just today - i noticed the idle dropped to almost 200-300 RPM and the car almost...

    Random engine shutdowns while driving

Did the problem go away the first time you replaced the ignition switch? I think your problem is likely the ignitor... Yes - if the lights on the dash turn off/stay of when the car stalls - then it's not the ignition switch... if the RPM drops like a rock to zero - then it's like the ignitor...

    Random engine shutdowns while driving

Your problem is defi ignition switch - since in an earlier post you said the lights all just turn off etc - in my case the lights all stay on... i could have told you that - but i never caught that the first time i read your posts :) Glad your problem will be fixed.

    Random engine shutdowns while driving

The ignition switch recall is for the 99 model year. Is that what you (nyknick) have? You can definitely replace the electrical side of the ignition switch yourself - but if there is a recall for your model year - I would just go to the dealer.

    CEL Codes

Ok - i've searched all over and I cannot find which pins are supposed to be jumpered - the only post I found, says the "lowest" two pins... is there another how-to somewhere that i missed? I figured pulling the codes should be the most obvious DIY out there - but I cannot find a definitive...

    Random engine shutdowns while driving

I'm thinking my problem is the idle air control valve (IACV)... the car hasn't stalled since I posted - but when I think back about the stalling - it never happens at speed - it has always happened when I was either at a light (usually with clutch in), or taking a turn and in between gears or...
