    Question about building a 400hp+ F23

This is not to anybody in particular... but I think some of you guys don't understand how a car ECU works. First of all it is designed so that the same engine can operate in different parts of the world, different climates/elevations ON THE SAME ECU. Just think about it, you can drive an Accord...

    Question about building a 400hp+ F23

Yes it is easy to do with OBD1... but with OBD2 I don't know any mechanic who would risk it. Or are you talking about the visual part of the inspection? Then yes, the visual part will not be a problem.

thanks  Thanks man, you are one of the few who know what they are talking about.

    Question about building a 400hp+ F23

IC, It would be pretty cool if I could build an F22A and be able to pass the OBD2 inspection with it. Theoretically it should work with the F23A5 ECU... and an F23 or F22B OBD2 distributor... That would be risky though, I wouldn't want to build an F22, put it in the car, and realize...

    Question about building a 400hp+ F23

    1. I've personally ran a stock F22 ECU on a built ~11.0:1 compression motor, it ran fine. I just needed to get the car from one point to another and kept it under 3000rpm, it drove fine... I've never done it with OBD2 but I seriously doubt a very small change in compression is going to cause a...

    Question about building a 400hp+ F23

Yes you are indeed lucky that you dont have emissions inspection and blah, my Civic has an Accord motor in it, still not that hard to work on

    Question about building a 400hp+ F23

Well I don't think it takes hours to convert to OBD2 and back. 15min to change injectors, 5min to change the ecu, 10min to disconnect charge pipe, another 10-15min to change a couple more plugs like the IACV etc. From my experience you don't need to drive that many miles in order for the ECU...

    Question about building a 400hp+ F23

It may not be as easy as I think... BUT this is what I am thinking... changing the engine compression from 8.8:1 to say 8.5:1 shouldn't make much of a difference, the ECU will not be able to tell the difference. Say you did absolutely nothing to the engine besides lower the compression by that...

    Question about building a 400hp+ F23

I appreciate all the responses, seriously. Just can't understand why somebody would tell me that I can't run a built turbo motor on the stock ECU when I already made it clear that I will be running OBD1 and have extensive experience tuning boosted engines. Sorry If i was being rude though.

    Question about building a 400hp+ F23

The F23 already has low compression, there is absolutely no reason to lower it even more. I'm pretty sure even off-the-shelf pistons don't lower it a significant amount. :bash: You have to be kidding me! Please show me where I said that I will be running the stock ECU. They don't have...

    Question about building a 400hp+ F23

Yes, thanks, now looks like this should be a pretty straight forward build. So from what I understand you are running the stock F23 cam? You have to: 1. Put the stock ECU back in 2. Convert everything back to OBD2 3. Put the stock injectors back in 4. Remove the spring from the wastegate so...

Oh wow, my dumbass thought there was something else I had to do with the immobilizer. Thanks.

    Question about building a 400hp+ F23

not making a thread but if you seriously think I am making stuff up, here is a pic of it I LOLd ! This isn't rocket science though... I can write out the whole process right now in 5min.... - get pistons+rods - send block to machine shop - send head to machine shop - put head on...

    Question about building a 400hp+ F23

nothing that great just an EJ Civic. Stock F22 with Delta cam, a/w intercooler, ebay wastegate, front bumper exit exhaust (it's very quiet believe it or not), 560cc injectors, DSM 20G turbo, polished IM, tuned by me, runs fine. nothing special, I'd like a comfortable car that I can actually take...

    Question about building a 400hp+ F23

That is exactly why I started the thread, wanted to know if the stock head is capable. If not, no biggie, I can throw and H22 or an F22 in there. Just trying to keep everything as simple as possible for myself.

    Question about building a 400hp+ F23

My questions are in my first post. I wasn't looking to hear people tell me how you cant build a 400hp Honda engine..... when I have basically a 400crank hp Honda sitting outside that cost me 3Gs to build and has been the most reliable car Ive ever owned. I was honestly looking for some advice...

    Question about building a 400hp+ F23

Actually Honda engines are much more efficient than Mitsubishi engines stock vs stock. an engine is an engine is an engine. you can build any engine to make power as long as you have access to quality parts. the only difference with an accord is that it will still run 13-12 sec 1/4 mile...

    Question about building a 400hp+ F23

What exactly did I fail at dude? Everything I said so far in this thread is 100% accurate. Prove me wrong, oh yeah, you can't because there is nothing to argue about, I'm only stating facts.

    Question about building a 400hp+ F23

600hp is no problem out of a Honda F/H/K and some domestics too, but not every 4banger. I am making OVER 300hp at 12psi on a pretty small turbo. With a bigger turbo and headwork I don't see why I wouldn't be in the 350-400 range with everything else left the way it is now. Yes an H22/F23...

    Question about building a 400hp+ F23

I see your point. BUT.... 1. Holset variable geometry turbochargers = feels like a t25 at 2000rpm and is capable of 600+hp at high rpm 2. I don't want to keep OBD2, I just want to put it on the car once a year for inspection. If the F23 head really flows that poorly, then perhaps I could do an...

    Question about building a 400hp+ F23

In this day and age 600hp+ streetable 4cylinder engines are nothing new, so I really don't see the big deal about making 400. So if all those guys cannot get 400, they either are happy with what they are making or there is a weak link(s) in their setup that doesn't allow them to make more...

    Question about building a 400hp+ F23

    1. You don't need 1000ccs to run 400hp 2. You don't need to run 20psi for 400hp 3. I wouldn't want to run it with an OBD2 ECU 4. 400hp has been done on a stock F22 block 5. Why do you think a built block will not last? There are plenty of 600-1000hp Hondas running fine. So you basically don't...
