Which one is it? Just swapped in another motor, and the temp gauge barely goes above the C. I burped the system are far as I could tell, but theres not a whole lot of pressure behind the coolant with the bleeder open. I installed the sensor from the other motor above the T-stat, but that didnt change anything...what else would prevent the motor from getting to operating temp? The fans dont even turn on (except with the AC). New water pump went on while the donor motor was out..

More details on motor... direct swap? Or another engine? OBD1? OBD2? That would make a diff as well with the temp gauge.. OBD1 motor in OBD2 car would disable temp gauge in 2000-20002 accords. There's a way to get around it though.

sorry, the donor was from a 98 accord. All sensor looked the same, and all connectors connected, so I didn't think it would be an issue. I also have original motor intact to swap any sensors if needed.

Trouble is, I dont know the history of the car, bought it cheap due to a head gasket failure, and it overheated. While pulling the plugs, cylinder #1 stripped out, and it had a nasty rear main leak, so I opted to just do an entire swap instead. Not sure if the radiator is good or not, but regardless the gauge should be higher. Is the 98 OBD1?

No, all 98-02 accords are OBD2. I only brought up OBD1 because I thought you may have done a H22 swap, or the car was previously converted.

yeah, this isnt making much sense to me either... the coolant barely oozes out of the bleeder screw when opened, so it doesnt seem to be much for coolant flow, but the gauge says its cold, obviously these two scenerios cannot be occurring at the same time!

yeah, runs great, it started to sputter/miss a little bit after idling for about 30 minutes with the AC on, so I know the motor was plenty warm...just the gauge, fans didnt reflect that

does ur upper radiator hose get warm/ hot? if the coolant is not circulating, it could just be a stuck thermostat

I dissassembled everything to take a second look. No blockages, no leaks, Tstat opens up around 190 ish (simmering water), fan relay works, guage pegs when grounded, ECT thermo resistor passed the tolerances (both of them), so I put it back together, burped it, checked for heat, and started driving. Its just the way this one is I guess....
