2001 Accord Ignition Repair

Hey guys so my car was recently broken into and the thieves messed up my ignition pretty bad, I’ve had the car towed to my dads auto shop but were both pretty stumped on what to do next. Has anyone had to replace this before and could help with the process? The car has a factory alarm and it seems they busted the chip for it.

You're going to need a new ignition, possibly more. I would have it towed to the dealer

Yes a trip to the dealer will be needed. You can save money replacing the ignition, and the ignition switch if it was damaged. The other parts you will need to look at a parts diagram and findout what was damaged. This may be found online or go to your honda parts department and you can get a printout. Either way you will need a trip to the dealer to have the new ignition key programmed. Sucks thieves really suck, repaired many cars that were recovered, always expensive. Glad they didnt get to actually steal it.
