3 strikes and it's out?

Hello all. First time poster, long time lurker....I had a bad morning with my '99 ex-l 4cyl auto this morning.

First, I get into the car and something must have let go in the driver's seat because it rocks like a rocking chair. I have to grip the steering wheel well to keep from ending up in the back seat.

Second, the driver's side window fell all the way into the door. I didn't even touch the window controls. It's cold and windy driving down the highway in January with your window down!

Third, my transmision starts acting up, I know "autotragic" but I am hoping there might be a fix since it doesn't seem to be actually slipping....when I come to a stop and I instantly mash the gas it slips and slams into gear and I go as normal. When I stop and pause a second before I hit the gas, I feel it come back down into gear and I take off as normal, no slamming into gear.

This is my daily driver and I'm not sure if these are easy issues to fix or maybe I just need to get a new/used car. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

1. Driver's seat is a common issue, sounds like a snapped bolt.

2. Window regulator shot or something broke. You'll probably have to take the door apart for that one.

3. A few threads on here about what to try to address the tranny issue, from checking the solenoids to swapping it out.

The seat seems to be firmly bolted down but pulls off the rails or whatever on the front left only.

for the window, a temp "fix" would be to take off the door panel (screw by the handle, and in the cup thing you grab to pull the door closed). pop off the sail panel (triangle piece by the side mirror) then just slip your fingers behind the whole panel. then it will pop off. you then lift it up, reach behind it, take out the bulb (twist it) and take out the plug that goes to the window/door locks. peel away the plastic, lift the window up into place, and cut a piece of wood to length and slide it up there. kind of ghetto rigged but it will do the job until you replace whatever parts you need

Not doing this will help your car last.

Also spend some time searching the site, a lot of advice has been given on how to care for these transmissions as well as driving techinques that will eliminate unnecessary wear on the tranny.

^ Take care of your tranny like you would take care of your own baby.. It will last longer this way.

I pulled the seat and found a broken weld on a tab connected to some bars for the power seat. I'm sure that's going to be a dealer part or the junk yard.

I also pulled the door panel to see if I could temp fix my window in the up position. I found a cable end laying in the bottom of the door. It was attatched on one end but looks like it needs to be attatched to something on the other. Any ideas? I have tried to find some diagrams online but it looks like i may have to pick up a manual at the parts store if they have one. Anyways, I took some cardboard and shoved it between the glass and window channel and it seems to stay up for now.

The trans is still wanting me to pause a bit longer when I come to a stop. I checked the fluid and all was well including the smell. Who knows, I guess it's my turn to have a jacked up tranny.

My window did the same thing, I had cardboard or paper keeping it up for two years and I find out it just fell off the fame...lol try taking the door panel out to see what's wrong

I had the same thing happen to my driver seat. It's kind of a bad design, the metal is too thin, and not reinforced enough. I had a friend weld it back in place, but it only lasted a couple months before the weld failed, and it was a rocking chair. I luckily ended up getting a gray leather powered seat at a junk yard for $50.
