Re: 6 gears > 4 [6spd + 3.2 swap]

UPDATE. Tim (site sponsor) is the man. All 127 parts I ordered from him are shipped and on their way to my door. I received the flywheel from Paul yesterday.

So all I am waiting on are the Innovative mounts, which I ordered on May 9th...and I've heard NOTHING. I'm calling them today, kinda nervous about getting them in time...

Chris, any SRI for a J30 will also work, you might have to cut down the piping a little shorter on the throttle body side.

Oh, and AEM DryFlow filters are FTW.

I do the same thing when I think about a man-tran swap. Anxious to see this done. I'm gonna check in on this thread more often:thumbup:

Thanks for reading. :) When the swap gets underway next Thursday, this will be updated continuously.

I am pretty sure the 3.2 throttle body is larger, Kevin. Otherwise I'd just use my AEM V2. My fiance's brother may have an sri for a 3.2 though, so I might just use that until I find a CAI that will fit. Or Rich said we can fab something.

Agree about AEM's dryflows, I'm lazy and don't clean them. I buy a new one every year, and sell the old one. lol

you should just use your V2. I'm using a V2 for my setup right now, and the 4" piping diameter is nice

Can I? I thought a V2 made for a J30 wouldn't fit a J32 due to the throttle body size being different?

Do not get the v2 for a j30. The tb size inlet is way too small and will choke that engine according a lot of guys Over on azine. Stick with the v2 for the j32 type s. Idk the auto and manual would be different. If anything, you can cut the small piping off of your existing v2 and weld some 3" piping on there.

^I agree. I am pretty sure I will have to retire my current V2. And from what I've read it sounds like AEM only made V2's for the TL/CL autos...but it may fit the manual. But I'll be using a TL motor anyway, so the only remaining question is if the piping will bend/fit the same way the current one does. Hope so.

Cutting it & welding bigger piping is an interesting suggestion, wonder what that would do to the sound...

Re: 6 gears > 4 [6spd + 3.2 swap]

Just spoke with a Tim at Innovative. Says they're building the rear mount right now, and they'll ship Thursday at the latest. He said I should get them next Monday or Tuesday. He said he manages production there, seemed like a nice guy. I didn't even bother asking about longer bolts, just want the mounts asap.

So hopefully...everything is set. Now, just trying to find a hotel. Rich and his gf are looking for me, since they know the area. Rich is picking me up mornings/dropping me off nights, so that makes things easier.

God this would be so much easier if I lived in California...
