6-Speed Swap Information

For those who have done a 6-Speed Swap, which transmission did you go with. How hard is it to do yourself? How much is it? How much would a mechanic be?

Just asking, because I'm saving up at the moment to do that, just want to know a little more about it.

Mechanics vary place to place, issues vary swap to swap.

Ballpark figure is $3000.
