My wifes DD accord has been serving us very well. Although lately it has died a few times sometimes at lights when stopping or when the AC is on... so it souunds like the ISV needs cleaning, but i went today to pull the TB off, as it looks like the ISV is on the TB but it seems like there is coolant going through the TB as i took off what i thought was a vacuum line on the bottom and i got warm coolant all over me :fail: so i pulled it off w/o pulling the coolant lines and it was very oily in there, i used some carb cleaner to clean the TB up a bit, but where it looked like the ISV was was pretty clean..... so thats why im here guys, most of my experiences have been with old vw's and audis from the late 80's so this is new ground for me, and so far my experience with getting this car up to date with maintenance (timing belt/brakes/starter) has been great, a lot easier than the old vw's thats for sure. so any info would be great, i tried a few searches but always got 0 results so i figured id just post up....

How does it die? Any slutter noise or does it seem like the battery just cuts off? Have you checked your battery or alternator?

it idles great, right around 5-600, no misses or anything. It starts quickly and cranks easily. I will grab the meter and check the alt voltage tomorrow.... thanks for the input

My car idles around 1100-1200 RPM on a cold start, shortly after drops down to about 750-850 RPM. To me 5-600 RPM sounds a bit low?

yea, most of my other cars do idle a bit higher, it looks like the idle set screw is on the top of the TB, i could idle it up a bit to see if that helps, but its been like that since we got the car 20k ago, and we ran the ac a lot more when back in FL.... but i can try bringing it up a bit and see if it keeps happening. thanks!

OP, when you start the car in the morning what is the cold idle at? 1000-1200?
If you let it warm up what does the idle drop down too? it should be 650-700rpm with the car warm and A/C or Radiator fans not running.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? along with testing that your alternator is working up to spec?

If you already cleaned out the IACV, TB properly and checked your alternator/and for vacuum leaks i'd say consider resetting the ECU as well.
-With the car warm, turn off car and all electronics
-Unplug neg(-) battery terminal and leave it off for 10-15mins
...some say to step on the brakes to drain any current
-Re-connect neg terminal
-Turn car on and let it idle for 10-15mins without turning on any electronics or etc
-After 10-15mins turn car off, wait 10-20 seconds and turn back on.
-Shift through P-R-N-D-D3-D2-D1, and wait about 5 seconds as you shift to each gear. Shift back to D and go for a normal drive as you usually drive the car. It takes a couple of starts for all tests to run as the car check its-self

...note if anything changes
