Since my accident back in 2015, ive been driving around with no ac. Living in SoCal, the weather starting to heat up again since its the summer and i dont think i can take driving around with just the windows down anymore. I was wondering if anyone knows whats needed to put ac back into my car. I still have the compressor attached. Plan on ordering the condenser, fan assembly, and drier as soon as i can. Surprisingly, my hardlines and pressure hoses didnt break or get any leak from the accident so ill be using those again. Do you guys know what else ill need?
Yea it had ac before the accident. At the time, i figured i wasnt going to replace the ac because i rarely used it, but im now regretting it.
Replace what was broken. Id rrcomend a new dryer aswell. Make shure when you take it to a shop they vaccuum test it for a good 20-30 minutes and then hold it on vaccum to make shure theres no leak and vaccum also helps recover the moisture thats trapped in the sytem
Thats where im stuck at, forgot what was damaged and thrown away. All i have left are the compressor, hardline and pressure hoses
I'm sure you still have the evaporator inside the dash, too. IIRC the only things out front are the receiver/drier (little aluminum can looking thingy) and the condenser itself. But if the compressor has been open to the atmosphere for too long, it might be fubar from running with no oil.
Here is the cooling unit diagram https://www.hondapartsnow.com/parts-list/1999-honda-accord-2dr_ex-ka-5mt/a-c-cooling-unit.html Here is the compressor diagram https://www.hondapartsnow.com/parts-list/1999-honda-accord-2dr_ex-ka-5mt/a-c-compressor.html and here is all the hoses and pipes from the condenser and compressor https://www.hondapartsnow.com/parts-list/1999-honda-accord-2dr_ex-ka-5mt/a-c-hoses-pipes.html I posted this to help others too who may stumble upon this link looking for a cooler summer while cruising the roads, happy hunting.
Okay cool, looks like all the things i mention were what i needed and quite possibly the compressor too haha. Thanks!
I recently did my ac myself and used rockauto (i believe this site gets a discount) on parts i needed replaced. You'll need AC oil (PAG 46) you MUST use pag46 so you don't destroy your compressor. make sure your condenser, receiver, low and high side hoses aren't leaking. I'd replace your gasket if you are planning on putting oil where you can. I forgot how much oil you'll need but all the info can be found.
