Dang, I didnt know that Trek downsized Fisher so much, that kinda sucks. I also dont think that a 10 speed drivetrain is very good for a serious mountain bike. The clearance in the rear cassette is so small with a 10 speed that it would be way easier to mess up with any sort of dirt or mud. Also, even though you have 30 gears (I know right) you wouldnt be able to use 4 (or more) of them because of cross-chaining. It seems really inefficient to use that technology on their upper end mountain bikes.

Also, I wish that the Gritty had tighter geometry, like last year's Fisher Triton or it's previous form, the LeMond Fillmore.

The Marlin SS 29'er looks like a pretty sweet deal though, competing directly with bikes like the GT Peace9'er, Redline Monocog 29'er and Surly's Karate Monkey.

I think it is a good think for Fisher. They were not selling the numbers that he wanted. And even with such small sells they still had trouble keeping the bikes in stock. This will allow for more sells down the road, and a smoother source of distribution for his bikes. I don't think I could compare any company to Trek when it comes to how easy they are to deal with. Fast shipping(Free), great warranty, and the dealer website is so much easier to access than Giant or Scott.

It also should help out Trek because now they won't have to produce 29er and multi-purpose bikes. So now they will have a full coverage of bikes. Not to mention Fisher is a god when it comes to mountain biking, and until now few people probably new they had an affiliation with Trek.

It seems like most higher end mtn bikes have 10 speed with Trek. I do wish instead of a triple upfront it was just a double with a bash guard. But to be honest I don't think many people use all of their gears in the first place and few know about the problems of cross-chaining.

I don't know much about the geometry, not a huge issue for me i guess. But I could probably sacrifice it since the price is so low. Their road bikes are amazing looking also. Getting the Ion Super is kinda tempting and then just upgrade to SRAM components

Ohh...i have a Race Lite rear rim on the way...so hopefully in a week I will have it built up. I can't wait to put it on. I just can't decide if I want to keep the bladed spokes or not. They are such a pain to true. Maybe I will eventually start upgrading the components. We had a full Ultegra sitting around used(Customer upgraded to SRAM Force and didn't want their old stuff) but another employee took that. So I guess I will be waiting around for another used set.

For a while before I got my new X.9 front shifter I maxed out my front D and limited it to the center chainring and ran 1x9 and honestly, it was SO. MUCH. FUN. It made me work harder on the climbs and cut back on my speed a little bit, but it made things really simple (especially with a cast on my left arm). My personal opinion on mountain bikes is this; less is more. Fewer gears, shorter travel suspension, lighter weight. Though, I live in Kansas, and all the trails that I ride are strictly cross country so I have my fork limited to 80mm of travel instead of the full 100mm that it could go, it makes it a little quicker and more efficient. I just cant get enough of Fisher 29'ers though, I love them.

Yeah I only use the middle on my bike anyways. So that setup would be pretty nice. I have never needed tons of travel on my bikes since I have not stepped up to the bigger obstacles. Maybe eventually I will need it because downhill always looked fun to me. But I am going to take my time so I don't kill myself on aggressive trails.

Have you ever seen any of the NWD freestyle mtn bike videos? I just saw NWD 10: Dust and Bones. It is amazing and has some incredible cinematography.

I've never seen any of the NWD stuff, I'll look it up though.

I really want to build a new fixed gear though, I miss the strength that my legs had when I was riding it daily.

Yeah the guys that ride SS at work have some incredible leg strength. One reason I have tried to bump up the gears that I use while riding. Trying to build up my strength, but hard when you have the option of going to an easier gear haha

Yea, it really is such an incredible workout, especially riding fixed. After commuting for most of the school year on a fixed gear, my legs were in incredible shape. Now that I've been off the bike for nearly 2 months except for a few occaisions, my legs are total mush.

Yeah it is kinda sad, but I used to ride more before I worked at the bike shop. I just never have time to ride now. But thankfully I have been on the bike twice this week, and both rides my legs were trying to fight back. But it felt SO good to be on the bike just enjoying the day on our greenway system. Well minus the awful temps. I had to resort to having two water bottles

Finally got a trunk rack for my car so I can hit up the trails and stop riding my mountain bike on the street at night lol. Got a Saris 2 bike carrier for $120 (and a new set of gel/air padded gloves, forgot the brand). Yesterday I hit up the Oleta River State park trails and today I went through the craziness at Markham Park trails up a little north of me. Both parks had lots of new trails and little changes to existing trails since the last time I rode out there. My legs were dying while I was riding, didn't help that it was probably 100 degrees out lol. Looking forward to keeping this up though.
