Please explain either way.

I'm mixed. I have 180,000 on my 2001 VTEC 5 speed. Beyond standard maintenance (which I didn't really do; I first changed the tranny/clutch fluid at 160,000 miles) and an expensive pair of rear calipers, it's just been standard maintenance. I'm happy about this.

However, things are falling apart fast in my car. The leather interior is terrible quality, with massive rips everywhere. My clutch isn't slipping per say but it's not easy to engage; it's definitely showing some wear. The CD Player breaks constantly. The ball joints are very close to the end, as are the cv axles. I'm not happy about this.

At what mileage did you buy the car? Did you ever condition the "leather"? Unless you're been rough with it, the interior shouldn't be tearing that much. As for the clutch, with that mileage I'm not surprised, it's probably time to replace it soon. Ball joints/CV axles are usually a result of how the car was treated for the majority of its life. But I do hear about people changing the ball joints a lot on these cars. But if you don't keep up with regular maintenance, it's hard to complain, especially when it comes to 10+ year old cars. Know what I mean?

I will give you the bit about the CD unit though, I've owned a few and it seems like it's only a matter of time before they break. I'm not bothering with another one, just going to get a DVD/NAV unit.

Maintenance-wise, I am happy with my car. When I got it I had to replace a muffler, an end link, get the EGR cleaned out, and replace two of the tires. I also had to replace the main relay later on, as well as a cv boot. Other than that, no big problems really. But I keep up with regular maintenance religiously.

Aside from maintenance, I am just okay with it. I'm never happy with the way it looks, and I wish it had heated seats, etc.

Overall, no. However, that's why we mod, so that we can have a car that we can be happy with, overall.

With specific areas, absolutely.

As Chris said, you maintain the vehicle, and there is no reason for you not to get more than it's worth out of the car.

Your issues with the car are easily fixable/replaceable, if you are willing to spend the money/do the work/ask for help to do the work. Once those issues are addressed, I am sure you would be more than happy with your car.

Aside from heatsoak, main relay and other "usual" issues, and the tranny possibly failing, I love my car. In the 16 months Ive had it Ive only had to replace the tires. When I put on the new exhaust I saw that one of my mufflers had a small hole but I probably wont be putting the OEM exhaust back on anyway.

Ive put close to, if not over, 30k miles and the only issue Im coming across is what sounds to be a strut bushing. I havent diagnosed it yet, Ive just had a mechanic buddy listen real quick and it's what he thought it could be.

I dont know when, or if at all, the previous owner did the 70k mile service so Ill probably be doing the 120k/130k timing belt/wp service in the coming months.

My CD player works. The only thing that bugs me is when I switch from like disc 1 to 6 or vice versa, it makes a weird noise, otherwise it operates and reads fine.

My driver seat has a pretty good rip in the "usual" spot. Otherwise, the rest of the interior is damn-near immaculate. I might see about having one or two of the torn/creased sections of th seat re-upholstered. Worst case, Ill just patch the one spot.

But I love this car. Have for quite some time just never was able to get one. If I ever get up the funds or courage, Id love to do a J32 swap and either learn stick and get a 6spd or maybe just a newer auto from an 04 or 05 or something.

The 98-02 Honda/Acura line-up appeals to me, period. I love the CGs, the TL and CL. But it's the damn trannies. It's like finding the girl of your dreams only to find out she has an STD, lol. She's still alive and well and safe, but, there's always gonna be that worry in the back of your mind. Lol.

Overall, I am happy :). I think it came with all necessities that I would need such as PW, heated seats, heated mirrors, decent engine and speed, and of course reliability. 98-02 Coupes have got the looks! I only hate it that the car is rusting to hell and there is nothing I could do to stop it.

But I am keeping my kit and parts for the next 6th gen coupe. :leeann:
