I used the gray tape from pep boys, with a red peelable backing. I tried all sorts of tapes, and only pep boys had this particular one. Autozone didn't have crap. On another note - be precise when using the tape, because it tends to come undone and leave small gaps which look aesthetically displeasing. I especially had issues with this when mounting the front lip. It came out really well though in the end.
