i have a 99 EX 5-spd and i was bored so i started lookin for parts for my car

i was wondering what clutch is best for everyday driving yet provides a good feel. The OEM one is a lil soft for my taste...maybe stage 1 clutch?? car is a daily...stock motor, possible boost in future

any and all opinions are welcomed

Exedy stage 1. If you really want more of a harder grab then go with stage 2. But you can never go wrong with exedy clutches.

Btw I just so happen to have a exedy stage 1 clutch for sale. It's brand new in box. PM if interested

I recently had a stage 1 exedy and a fidanza flywheel installed. I drive my car daily and love this setup.

I've always been an ACT fan and they have not let me down. My clutch has been taking a beating for years now and is just fine.

As a side note, if you are going to replace the clutch, either get your flywheel resurfaced or get a new flywheel. Stuff will last longer and work to its specification.

^What do you recommend for a lightweight flywheel (or at least lighter than OEM) that is good quality but not outrageously expensive?

I'd go with the ACT flywheel. Either the ~13 pounder (Street-Lite) or the ~9 pounder (pro-lite). The street-lite being better for road use, and the pro-lite being more for race applications. I'm running the pro-lite and it has been great. No problems what so ever. You can pick up either i think for low-mid 200's.

Only issue is since it is so light, revs drop fast (less weight and rotational momentum), so heel and toeing or rev match down shifts gotta be quick :p

Ahh gotcha, that's cool lol. I only use my car for street use and for 'spirited driving' so I'd go with the Street version. I should have weighed my OEM before my swap, but it had to be at least 20-30 lbs.

Good info thanks!

What is meant by "this clutch grabs harder"? Does that mean when you let the clutch out to the point it starts to engage that it pulls the car a little more, or it's more firm of a grip?
I'm a complete noob on this. :hide:

^ the activation point is much narrower is what is means. In other words, the "harder" the clutch grabs, the more difficult it is to slip it everything else constant. So if u up the power of your motor, the easier it will be to slip the clutch since you have more power. The pressure plate also plays a large role in this. The pressure plate is what keeps the clutch stuck to the flywheel when the clutch peddle is released. When u press in the clutch peddle you are releasing the pressure off the pressure plate which no longer has the clutch stuck to the flywheel.

That was really short and sweet. If u don't understand let me know :p

Exedy stage 1 would be great for what you want I loved it. ACT makes a good clutch but cost more though. I'm sure Exedy makes some of the Honda & Acura OEM clutches. Stage 1 will give you a little more stiffer feel and able to take a bit more power over stock.
