I've got some feedback about this, and he said that there's really no point to bore out the TB. The reason is that even though you get more air, there isn't more fuel to burn that excess air, so there will be unburned air inside my cylinders. He said that if I were to do this, I would have to get larger fuel injectors, fuel pump, etc.

Eventually, all this would lead to somewhat of an N/A build that I really don't want. I just thought $100 wasn't so bad to get some more power.

Larger injectors and fuel pump and unburned air from a throttle body huh?

Damn...I should have a full engine management system for my TB, and ported/polished intake manifold and head.

My point it - whoever told you that is full of it.

What the heck? That aint right at all! You dont need to upgrade the injectors and fuel pump! Upgrading the fuel pump is for more of an aggresive build like for a serious NA or FI build! Thats wass some of the biggest crap ive ever heard!

Well he didn't say I HAVE to upgrade the fuel pump and injectors, he just implied that there is no point to boring the TB if you're not going to increase fuel. As Roy stated, air + fuel = power. Air can go increase, but according to him, fuel should match the difference in air.

The stock injectors can inject less fuel, but never more than what it's supposed to. This was in response to, "what if I reset my ECU after doing the TB work?"

But yeah, I'm not looking to get major HP, but I think it'd be a nice addition to the rest of bolt-ons that I have on my car. Oh, and one more thing, I only got one answer to the question about port-matching. I'm assuming that he's right? In the most basic explanation, it's just making the diameter equal throughout the valves?

Your injectors will add more fuel if it sees more air, but only up to a certain point.

Port matching is making a smooth consistent transition from the throttle body to the intake plenum or from port to port (In Mani/ In Head or Ex Head/Header). Has nothing to do with the valves.

Well what that guy was telling you about the fuel+air ratios is kinda right, BUT the stock ECU can handle a little more air just fine. Its not a huge increase in air, like turbo charging the engine. The extra air is not much at all, probably comparable to natural variations anyways (like it being really cold outside, giving denser air. Or even driving on the highway with increased air flow)

Lots of people have done this mod and gotten gains from it. Also everyone who has an aftermarket intake installed is getting more air into the engine, and we've all seen gains from those mods.

Sounds good, looks like I'll be doing this mod in the near future. Are there any DIYs on taking off the TB and IM? Or is it really simple like taking off a few bolts. I think it'd be a little difficult to reach the bolts since it's on the other side of the head making it hard to reach?

Actually the stock fuel injectors can flow more fuel because they are not running at 100% duty cycle on the factory ecu settings.
That wouldn't make for a relible car if your injectors were running at max duty cycle from day one.

Yes at some point you need to add more fuel if you want to make more power, but bolt-ons and a bored tb is not that point. The ecu is more than capable of compensating for the increased airlfow.
