Honda accord trunks is a terrible acoustic car compare to a hatch or crx style, thats why in competition, you see alot of crx or hatches winning competitions because of there excellent acoustics properties. Now as far as option 1 or 2, what is important to you? space or better sound.Have you tried positioning the sub like option 1 and 2? I did and option 2 has the best acoustic. The reason is simple option 2 uses your whole trunk for the bass to bounce off to the front. option 1 has very little cubic feet for the subwoofer to create the optimum bass. But if you need the space then option 1 is for you, or you can still build option 2 like i did to where i built a custom amp rack bottom panel for the spare tire where it can hinge up for access to spare and speaker box custom built to clear the hinge and firing toward the rear. Remember this in terms of subwoofer world, the more cubic feet of air the sub can use and the box must be tuned between 32 and 38 hz the better it sounds. But that doesnt mean build the biggest subwoofer box.You cant because there is a maximum air volume your sub will go so check your sub manufacturer for maximum volume. Hopefully this helps.
