So 1998 accord with 130K miles with all tune up done.

Driving home from work today. Shuts off twice but then restarts itself and goes on. Happens within a second. First time was when I was entering the highway. Some car was coming up pretty fast and I had to get over one lane. I didnt floor the car but lightly tap it for a bit more juice. I notice a hard shift. I look down to see a maintainance soon light turn off and the car runs just fine. All within 1 second. 5 minutes down the road I notice I wasnt driving the speed limit because I was busy listening to music. So I gas it alittle and the car turn off and back on again at 50 mph. Maintainance light turns off the moment the car restarts itself. Car runs fine with no issue.

Tranny has never had a problem and had it service back in december. One thing I notice is sometime when I turn my key onto the second click (the one right before the starter motor one) the lights and nothing starts up. I have to nudge it some more and I hear the click from the relay behind the dash then everything goes back to normal.

Cars fully stock. Soooo anyone have a clue?

could be a loose wire on your battery or in your electrical system. happened to me before that way.

I think I traced the problem. Its my ignition switch. I started the car after work today and it tapped the key and the car shutted off. I tapped again to see it went back on.

****............. Thats too much work for a daily driver repair.

There was a recall on the ignition switch on our cars. Take it to Honda to have it fixed for free.

it happened to me before but wasn't while driving. i would ignite my car but then everything just turns off. found out the connector on my battery had somewhat battery acid so i kinda cleaned it up and it didn't help anymore. so i'm pretty sure it's the battery.

Everytime some described this problem it is much easier to let them go to the dealer to get the free ignition switch for the recall yet every one keep saying Main Relay for some dumb reason. Let the dealer to the OBD2 check and see what they have to say.
