My car has been smelling like gas while I drive it, and while i'm sitting at a stop I can smell it. It smells right under the car by the driver door. I took it to autozone to get the check engine light and it read that there was a purged solenoid somewhere. Has anyone had this same problem, or could someone help me out with this?

The actual Pxxxx code would help a lot more... The words "purge" and "solenoid" lead me to think one of the valves in the EVAP system for the gas tank is junk.

The fuel line runs pretty much under the driver's feet on the underside of the car in a plastic cage thing. It's possible the line is rusted and seeping somewhere. I'd take it in to a shop before it becomes an issue (read: fire).

Pull out the dipstick and smell your oil. If it smells like gas, dump the oil and put fresh and take your car to the dealer.

if you have an after market exhaust and you can hear it popping on deceleration then chances are ur running RICH... my bike runs rich all the time and it smells like gas nonstop... popping in the exhaust is usually signs of burning gas

Evap canister would more than likely be the culprit for the purge solenoid, seems like maybe a torn vaccum line. The purge solenoid controls vapors from the gas tank allowing them to be either cycled into the intake after cycling throught the charcoal canister.

Sounds like fun. Take it to the dealer. Apparantly emissions equipment is warrantied for the life of the car, but that doesn't seem right.
