If you are planning to run a system in your car while its off, Get a Volt meter, then you can watch your power so your not left stranded with a dead battery and upgrade your battery is a good idea. My system I just driving I see the volt meter go from like 14 to 12 Volts or Less as the subs pound.

What you want to shop for is a battery with a high reserve. If you play your stereo at moderate levels while the car is off the red top is fine with I think a 12 volt average. The yellow top is 14 volts, for amps that draw more energy. The more expensive batteries give more juice for longer periods and charge much quicker. Depending on how much you want to spend ... you could get a Kinetic or something and save on weight big time. I think the Kinetic 800 is $160? :hihi:

If you still want to listen to your music with your bass cranked up then id suggest you get a capacitor to handle the power and you can also keep your system cranked up at the shop or whatever and stuff without killing your battery. It will also prevent all that stupid light flicker that people get when driving around when your bass is hitting hard. Also I would get a volt meter to make sure you dont go completely dead. But an Optima Yellow Top will never hurt. Brand new ones are like $160ish but you can go to a big battery store and find used ones that have been refurbished to new for like $70 or so.
I would still get an Optima anyway just to help with any extra added mods that require an electrical current.

My battery can die in as little as 15 min with a battery that doesn't need replacement ASAP. Obviously, with a new battery, it's much longer, but i've had my car die on me a few times and that sucks. If i'm stuck waiting somewhere, i just idle my car or don't listen to music.

I'm newb with systems, never had one. How do you turn the bass down? Do you do it through the EQ settings on the deck?

Does your amp drive just the subwoofers or does it drive other speakers as well? Check the connections on the amp, and if there is just one set of speaker wires going to the sub box, then it just drives the subs.

If this is the case, look on the amp for the input gains. These are recessed screws usually on top of the amp, that you turn with a small screwdriver. You can turn these down, reducing the bass, and also reducing the power draw on your electrical system.

If you have a four channel amp driving all the speakers, you can still do this, but you will have to follow the wires to see which set of gains controls the output to the subwoofers.

totally bad information here... you should have changed to a larger alternator instead.. the cap will help out a little.. but now you just added another piece in the chain that your altenator has to supply voltage two..

do the big 3
make sure that power and ground are atleast 4g
make sure you have a good ground
upgrade to better alternator
add additional battery with islolation

yeah most def get a cap cause i hve a 12' L7 with a 2000wat amp and i went through 3 alternators before realizing what i had done
