What’s the offset on those Rotas? Sounds like you’re lowered 1.5 – 2 inches…I would think those wheels have to be poking hard.

There are plenty of good looking wheels in 8 – 8.5 inch widths. But yeah if you’re keeping your current ride height or going higher…I wouldn’t go wider than 8” probably, depending on offset. Remember that 8” is the bead to bead measurement, the rim as a whole is actually more like 9” wide.

As for what you’ll notice upon switching to a narrower setup…well the car will look different obviously, and it will track differently (the way you feel grooves in a road, etc). There would be a difference in feel when it comes to cornering behavior, but I don’t think that will be huge.

Well I'm already rubbing in certain places with 215's. If I throw a tire that would fit properly, 235-245, I can only imagine it being much much worse.

But I've only heard bad stories from stretched tires, and I'm not gonna risk it. Not worth it, haha.

I'm looking to raise it slightly because I rather sacrifice the look that I like to be able to ride with some friends and not rub because I'm accelerating, or bottom out on all the potholes around here. Is it my preference? No, but its gotta be done. Sorry if that makes you facepalm hahaha.

I'll keep looking for some 17x8.5s, but have yet to find any online. The ones I do find have a ton of spokes, and that's just not what I like. Like I said, I've checked tirerack and wheelfire. Any suggestions on sites to check would be awesome.

They are +23 offset. Thanks for the info RedRyder, I'll keep that in mind.

I actually bought the car from a member already on this site.
It's kwak123's accord. I can't post links, but I quick search of his name in Member's Rides will bring it up.

Correct me on anything I say too, I a newbie when it comes to tires and wheels, so sorry for that ha.

You only hear bad stories because nothing ever goes wrong.

For that matter... I haven't heard any bad stories.

Eh well I didn't think much about it either, but a few people brought it up. I ended up just researching it and quite a lot of people say it's not safe, but at the same time there are few that have had great luck with it. I just don't care to risk it.

Regardless, that's only a small portion of my issue. I'm tired of rubbing with people in my car, the speedbumps that I HAVE to go over on my campus are awful, and there are potholes and bumps every 10 feet on the roads here. I just wanted to know if the change between 9.5 to 7.5 would change much in regards to the look.

I just checked out kwak123's members ride. It didnt look too low...

Yeah, I mean I've seen much lower, but my driving conditions make it rather annoying. I'm just tired of scraping. I think I'm just gonna keep the rims I have for now, raise is slightly and then throw some 225s on to reduce the stretch a tad and avoid rub. Some before and after pictures of anyone going down an inch or two in width would be much appreciated if anyone has them.

Take a look through the members rides and find someone with 8" wide wheels, most people list specs.

Good idea, did a search for 17x7.5 and they don't look bad at all. Would definitely be willing to go that route if I need too.
Quick question, if I were to sell my rims, what would be a fair price? There are some scratches/chips around the edges, but that's about it.
