Hey guys.

Is there a way to adjust the clutch in our cars? I installed a new master cyl in the fall and it didn't look like there was a way to adjust it. It disengages way too late for my liking. I totally forgot about it since I haven't driven it since November.

My foot is almost 3 inches off the floor before the clutch grabs. I am going to rip everything out next weekend when I do my brake upgrade and swap over the suspension, but just wanted to know if there is an easy way since I didn't remember seeing a way to adjust it when I installed the clutch master.

Thanks a lot

The only way to adjust the pedal 'stiffness' is one of two ways, upgrade the clutch, or you can make some EXTREMELY small adjustments on the nut behind the pedal but there really isn't a way to adjust the pedal.....

If your looking for a stiffer engagement the only real way to adjust that is a clutch upgrade...

There is a way to adjust the engagement and everything, but I don't know the specifics. It was in my AllData clutch guide... I'll see if I can dig it up tomorrow.

it's behind the clutch pedal.

according to my information, there are two locknuts, one of which is on the clutch switch, then you should be able to turn the rod cc or ccw depending on what you're trying to accomplish.

I only know this because I have been looking into doing the same thing

EDIT: Well I couldn't take it anymore, I had this nagging feeling I was wearing out my clutch cuase I Couldn't drive it right with it engaging so high, I'm 6'3" so I don't like to lift my leg up to my chin to engage a gear fully.

I checked it out with a crappy flashlight and a pair of channel locks (not really optimal tools for the job)..I dunno why the service manual says to loosen the nut on the clutch sensor forst but I did (sits on top, tells the car you pushed in your clutch for starting it or killing cruise control)

then there is a nut on the end of the actuator bar, it's hard to see because it's kind of recessed into the black 'shroud' that has the cotter pin attached to it, loosen it with channel locks or maybe a 14mm? if i remember from the other day..

When you loosen it, you will be able to turn the rod, I had about three full turns either way, so I went counter-clockwise 1 and a half turns first to test..thats about dead center or so, so I ended up at two full turns counter-clockwise..so it's a few inches off the floor.

I can't forsee any problems as far as clutch not fully engaging/dis-engaging but anyone more knowledgable feel free to enlighten us.

I have to do the same you barely need to left off the clutch on mine, I drove a stock 5th gen the other day and it felt like I had to lift my feet so much higher then mine. I want it to be in between I've just been lazy to mess with it lol.

I know the stiffness is all the pressure plate, and for me it has nothing to do with it being stiff.

For me, it is that my 92 accord, the clutch grabs the second you start to lift off the clutch, with my 98, you lift off... then more... then more... then... come the F on.. The pedal is 4" up and not grabbed yet lol.

Thanks Watson. I will check this out the next time its a beautiful day and I take the car out. I got the OnDemand DVDs at home to make a *copy* so I will see if they have anything specific in there for the clutch adjustment.

Thanks a lot.
