College...how long has/did it take? Degree?

6th Gen Accord is comprised of many people diverse in age, ethnicity, class but we all get the lovin' for our 6th Gens! Been in/out of 3 colleges and will return full time to San Jose State University as a Junior seeking a Degree in Business/Finance and Graphic Design. It's just that it has been 6 years! I get discouraged b/c many of my friends graduated, have good jobs, and make $$$$! Granted, college experience varies but some of you out there, how long did it take? Degree? Some memorable moments?

first of all, waddap man, good to hear ur from san jose as well, aite so i can tell u a little bit about myself, i graduated from lynbrook class of 06 and i started attending UCR last fall and my major is mechanical engineering. it is getting pretty hard, but i plan on sticking with it, it is something i know i wont regret, my degree is supposed to take 4 years, but i dunno, i might or might not need to stay an extra year, i have only completed my first year so far and i have 3 more to go and it is going to be hard as ****, but hopefully, everything will work out and ill be out of there in another 3 years. i understand where u come from though, when u said how u dropped out of college for a while, i felt liek that a couple times, i needed some time to really think about wat i wanted to do, but the more in depth my classes started to get, the more i wanted to stay with it, because to me, i think it would be an honorable accomplishment for me to say that i passed engineering and that i am a mechanical engineer..just my .02

Major: Telecommunications (Radio/TV Broadcasting)
Time Taken: 3 1/2 Years
Memorable Moments: Keep in mind the first 2 years are typically more difficult because you aren't taking classes specifically designed for your major yet. Your Junior and Senior Years is when you have a lot of fun and really get down to business, and you can really decide if you're doing what you want to do. If you enjoy what you're majoring in, then your Junior and Senior years will be cake. I've been out of college since December '04, and I can't tell you when I've used much from my first 2 years of school.

Hi. I graduated from Cal Poly with a BS in Mech Engrg. Took me 6 years because I was working a couple of jobs on campus at the same time. I did get some financial aid too. Best advice I can give if you have to get student loans, don't go crazy, I borrowed some but paid it off a few years after I graduated. I've heard some people borrow a ton and it takes them 10 or more years! No thanks! Good luck.

Some helpful responses so far! Since 2001, there hasn't been any one time that I had not gone to college - always active whether it be 1 or 5 classes. Academy of Art University 1 Semester, San Jose State 5 Semesters (engineering), Evergreen Community College throughout, now back to San Jose State. I do agree with Jeffro, there is different passion level between the freshmen sophomore years as opposed to the following years. All of those nonsensical GE classes are far behind me!

I took Graphic Design w/ some Business classes. It took about 3 years. For me the memorable moments was just meeting ppl in my program who shared the same desire as me. Unfotunately i'm more or less leaving the field, after 2 years of freelance, which has left me with a bitter taste for the field.

Assoc - Fire Protection Technology

Time - 2.5yrs

I had to take some gen ed classes for 1 semester cuz I didn't go to college right out of HS, after that it was kind of a breeze and really don't remember much of those 2 years. Going back in a year or so and finish up my BA in Emergency Management (read as "Countering Terrorism") which should take about another 2yrs.

I got my BBA (bachelors in business administration) from Ole Miss in 4 years. I started in Mechanical Engineering. Made it through a year, then decided that wasn't what I wanted to do. I switched majors to Accounting, and hated the **** out of it. Then I randomly switched to Insurance and Risk Management and I loved it. I've been working claims now for a little more than two years and there is rarely a boring day.
Memorable moments: Spring break to the Bahamas in 2003 with 7 other fraternity brothers..best time of my life. And I can't leave out meeting my wife, I guess that was pretty memorable too haha.
Most of my friends took at least 5 years to finish. Many more stayed on and went to grad school or law school. I had to get out and start working cause I didn't come from money. I still got about $10k in student loans to pay off but it was all worth it in the end.

Bachelor of Science in Management, Purdue University. Took me 4.5 years.... half yr extra cos i switched major in sophomore year...

MBA, UC Riverside... 2 years, 3.85 GPA :rock:
