So I went to get my car checked out for regular stuff by my mechanic, and the guy thought my start-up was a bit weird. So he messed around a bit and found that it'll randomly throw a code for 'Random Multiple Misfires.'

Long story short, I think this could be the cause of my stalling problems (car will start then die right away when hot)...so I want to get it thoroughly checked out.

How much do you think is a reasonable price to get this replaced for our cars, and how does this sensor go bad in the first place?

Is it something that can fail 'sometimes' and work fine at other times?

Thanks =)

the sensor is going to be somewhere on the block. Not sure about hondas, but toyotas are fairly easy to replace. You could probably do it once you have spotted it.

Its on the oil pump, under the crank pulley. Its not incredibly hard to replace, but the balance shaft belt needs to be removed and all the accessory belts, (not in that order).

And yes, it failing could cause the car to stall randomly and cause misfire codes.

we were both looking at the computer screen and there was a 'crank angle sensor' for 1.5hours, and a 'crank position sensor', for 3.5 hours...ugh.

Oh well. I'll get it looked at more closely to properly diagnose it...then pay to get it replaced I guess =(

Thanks again

If it's only causing intermittent problems and not leaving you stranded, I'd wait until you need a timing belt and have them replace it then.

^Unfortunately my timing belt was done at 190K km...and I'm now at 210K...so I probably won't need it for a while..

So replacing your main relay did not help? Ya crank position sensor is under timing belt cover at bottom of engine! so 3.5 hours sound about right!

Yeah man, the main relay didn't help.

I took it apart and the solder points seemed...ok. Not the best, but apparently that wasn't it =p.

I'll get it done next week...let u know how it goes
