Hi all.

Iam planning to installing a new exhaust system.

I have a offer here in switzerland for a custom full steel polished 2.56inch catback system.

Is that size optimal?

lol for boost.

if you're N/A don't be stupid.

Well that also depends on if you are talking about a dual setup or not.

you can go 2.5 for NA setup....
2.25 is what so called 'magic number' on 4cyl....

you do want some back pressure tho....design of muffler should matter a bit, but not too much....

the changes are very minimal, so you dont really have to worry too much...
id say just go ahead and get something near 2.25 or 2.5 and grab a muffler that provides exhaust tone you like....

if you think its too loud, then you can always add resonator.....(side note : longer the resonator, quieter exhaust tone will be ;) )

No you WANT backpressure for the J30.

SO keep your stock piping. But hell.. you don't have to listen to me. As long as you don't make a thread saying how you lost more low end torque or some crap like that.

kthx.

of course you will lose lower end tq and what not.....

stock intake, exhaust, exhaust manifolds are designed to spread power band through out from low end to top end....

simple bolt ons wont krazy power, but itll losen up some 'chocking', therefore moving the power band towards higher end.......

like what steve said, if you are that anal about your low end tq and power, keep things stock...you can always get axle back if you still want the sound....

3" is good. Don't have to worry about back pressure. Makes your car more free flowing. I'm considering it.

3" is a bit overkill on NA car i think...you need free flowing exhaust on FI car, but you do need some back pressure on NA set up....
