After getting tierd of pulling my switch to turn my fogs on/off and wanting the OEM look. I decided to start this project.

Duration: 1 hour

Difficulty: 3 out of 10

DISCONNECT YOUR NEGATIVE BATTERY

Items Used:
OEM Switch
Lighter
Wire Cutters(I used small side cutters)
Electrical tape
Shrinkwrap
D-Sub connectors(female)
Wire(I used 22 gauge)

I got all the items from Radioshack(excluding the lighter)

The diagram I'll be using covers my ebay wire harness setup (MS paint FTW!)

CivicDiagram.png

1st: Cut off 5 wire sniplets and strip each end, and then get your D-sub connectors ready.

2nd: Slide your sniplets into the connectors and crimp them.

3rd: Splice two wires together and taped them.

4th: Connect them to the back of your OEM switch.

5th: This will be the way I wired my wires together.(The switch is upside down, black will be on top, followed by yellow, red1 then red2)

IMAG0272.jpg

6th: Slide shrinkwrap over the wires for less hassle when holding the wires together after splicing.

7th: Cut-off the wires from your civic harness and strip the ends.

IMAG0281.jpg

8th: Splice the wires together from your OEM switch to your civic harness one by one, then slide the shrinkwrap over the open wires and apply heat.

9th: Test yours fogs and see the results, and finally if it worked just tuck in your switch to the empty slot.

If anything goes wrong let me know and I'll do my best to help you with what I can.

There are at least two of these floating around already.... your wiring doesn't make sense either. You've either got the 12v in and ground twisted together or you've got relay output and the 12v in together.

If you would have searched before taking the time to make this, you'd see that there are already 2 good DIY's on how to do this. Thanks, but not really needed as this info already exists plentifully. This may actally throw people off because you don't have a wiring diagram.

Well if it'll just throw people off, then closing the thread would probably be the best thing to do since that was somthing i was trying to avoid.

I saw one of the threads but I couldn't understand it since I didn't have a blue wire running in my harness. Just thought it'd help the ones that are running the eBay harness from 8 months ago.

i wish someone made this one a couple months ago.. my civic fogs actually had this type of wiring and the other DIY covered another type. The colors on the other DIY didnt match what I had and you had to read through everyones comments to find a solution. From what I understand there were two different wiring harnesses associated with the civic fogs or at least two different colored wiring harnesses.
