I just took my 98 ex v6 4dr in for tires and alignment. When I picked it up they offered to install a rear camber kit for $350 so they could align the back, otherwise the new tires are going to wear out on the insides. I asked them why it needed the kit, no one ever suggested one before. He said that lowering the rear of the car is the main reason. I informed him that the rear is completely stock. (I do have a pair of subs in the trunk but I never imagined that that would affect my suspension). Then he said that time and wear was the reason. Yes, my car is 12 yrs old but I take good care of it and it only has 120k miles. I am worried about ruining my new tires but I don't want to spend $350 just to align the back. Does this sound right? Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

lol@them.
subs shouldnt even move your car like 1/8 of an inch, and make a difference.
IMO, they're BSing you. i'm dropped quite a bit, somewhere around 3 inches. and i have decent negative camber in the rear. ENOUGH. and as long as your alignment gets done and the toe is zeroed out, your tires will be fine. camber does put extra wear on your tires, but very very little, from my understanding. and seeing as how i'm highly doubting that you have any camber at all, seeing as how you stated that its stock, why would you need a camber kit?
im sorry. i hate shops like that.. lol.
other people should agree.

Well, stock spec toe is somewhere between .00 degrees and .16 degrees. Mine is at .08, no bigs though on the tire wear.

You, sir, are getting taken for a ride. WOW.

They are trying to rip you off so bad.

You don't need a f*cking camber kit... even if you we're lowered 3 inches.... it's not that vital.

I wouldn't even get the alignment there. Take it somewhere else. You can get the alignment done no problem, main concern is zero-ing out the Toe. Not the Camber.

But I would go back to that place and completely rip them apart for trying to screw me out of $350. Good thing they tried that BS on you and not me.

Subs do almost nothing to height especially if u have aftermarket coils cuz of such stiffness....u can leave your rear like that....they aligned my rear and now i hate how my car lookz from behind...and from what i feel doesnt handle as good.

Lol even if you needed it, camber kits are about $100 for the rear I believe o.o but still, I'm lowered just about 2.5-3 inches and it's not really to the point where I need one yet ..

i think you know your answer. i wouldnt go back to them. they are retarded for even trying to convince you that on stock suspension.

how heavy are your subs...maybe your suspension is worn out and sagging?

i wouldn't think you would need a camber kit unless you have lowered suspension....kind of strange a shop would offer a camber kit to cover up a different problem like worn suspension
