Having my subframe shipped to me, and I figure since its the back half of it, I'd do my swap as well. Will be picking up an obd2 h22 from a local pick and pull, hopefully with trans still attached for pennies. While the motor and subframe is out, is there anything else i can do as preventive maintenance so I won't have to worry about anything?

So you want to know what you can do to the engine bay to fit the h22 motor?

No, I wanna know if theres anything I should do for the engine bay while the motor and subframe is out. Like if there's rust to look out for, or common cooling hose problems that should be done. Just things that are easy to do in those hard to reach spots while nothing is in the way

Ohhhh. Gotcha. check for cancer definitely and make sure your harness is still good and the sheathing isn't frayed near connections etc...

Also, now would be a good time to replace your splash gaurds if they've been compromised.

Change the timing belt/water pump, etc on the motor. As for the bay...I just cleaned mine. Though it's not a bad idea to leave the dirt and grime on the subframe, actually helps to protect it from rusting over time since water cannot penetrate it.

heh...penetrate

Wow, hadn't even thought about the timing belt! Good advice.

Yeah, I'd check the tensioner too. And probably change the other belts to be safe.

Check and make sure your steering rack and lines are 100%, no kinks, leaks etc. cause that is a pain in the *** to change/repair when the motor is in. Many curses, scrapes, nicks, more cursing and moments of defeat when I had to change one of the lines.
