Several days ago, I went over a big pothole at a good 40 mph. We've all gone over potholes, but this one was different. I heard a loud noise from underneath the car. Since then, I've been hearing some noises from the right hand side of the car.. usually when I hit the brakes or make turns. Based on googling, I suspected it would be the shocks or something.
Had it taken to the shop today for a more accurate diagnosis. The mechanics put the car up on the lift, and the problem became very clear to them. Turns out that when I went over the pothole, the subframe/sway bar got dismantled on the right hand side by the front right wheel- this area was also full of rusting (there is little/no rusting on the left side). The mechanic said there's no way to weld it together either because you can't weld rusted metal. And I was also recommended to not drive this car any longer.
What are my options here?
