Okay here is the deal, I installed aftermarket headers and exhaust..was doing well for like 7 months now all of a sudden i have this annoying rattle comming from the back end of the car. I spent 3.5 hours trying to fix it and yet no luck. has anyone had this problem before? What did you do to fix the problem. I bought new rubber hanger holders for the exhaust so there goes that idea. Thanks in advance folks.

there could be little dime-sized holes in the exhaust.
friends civic had little holes that were rusted through..
he got them welded together and it sounded great.

did you have someone rev it and you see the movement of the exhaust, seeing that it was hitting anything? What kind of exhaust system you have anyway?

Check the heatshields or anything rubbing against anything. Could be the downpipe hitting part of the block or something. Mine hits my lower tie bar and sounds like ****, I need to just pull it off.

Yeah I have the same problem with my exhaust. I notice it when I am just driving and hit a bump or two. It sounds like something is loose. And also I can not find the rattle either. It is coming from the right rear or so I think. Doesn't help your problem, but I am in the same boat.

My rattle sounds likes its coming from within my trunk? I had recently replaced my rear speakers. And those were tight. So it just sounds like something from within the trunk. Not sure though.

yeah the sound is on the right rear side...it rattles when its in idle and when i get on it ( pedal to the metal so to speak) welding ? weld it to what? i really didnt think about the heat shields either. can those be removed and no bad fault later down the road? doesnt look like its hitting anything either. i have to to take a another look, tomorrow.

To remove the heat shields jus jack up the car and remove the bolts....check and see if its loose and clean it while ur at it..as far as ur muffler...check the mounts...maybe they are on their way out
